The Collapse of a Moral Republic: America on the Brink of a Breakup?

I sat down last night with Mark Mitchell of Rasmussen Reports, one of our keynote speakers for the upcoming Worldview Weekend Conference on October 3rd and 4th in Collierville, Tennessee (get your tickets at worldviewstore.com—seats are going fast). What we discussed should shake every American awake: we’re not just drifting toward a civil war; we’re hurtling toward an assassination culture and a potential national divorce. The numbers don’t lie, and neither does the moral rot eating away at our foundations.
Mark brought some chilling statistics to the table. According to Rasmussen’s latest polling, 43% of likely voters now think a civil war is at least somewhat likely—up from 31% during the Trump administration. That’s a staggering jump, and it’s not hard to see why. Under Biden’s reign, the fabric of this nation has been shredded. But here’s the kicker: when asked about a “national divorce”—a peaceful breakup of the country—only 34% were on board. Conservatives led the pack at 49%, while moderates (24%) and liberals (17%) trailed behind. What does that tell you? People sense violence coming, but they’re not ready to walk away without a fight.
Then there’s the Network Contagion Research Institute study Mark and I dug into. Get this: 38% of respondents—driven largely by the left—say it’s at least “somewhat justified” to murder President Trump. For Elon Musk, it’s 31%. Among those left of center, the numbers spike to 48% for Musk and 55% for Trump. Nearly 40% think it’s acceptable to torch a Tesla dealership as “protest.” This isn’t just political disagreement; this is an assassination culture brewing, fueled by a left that’s been whipped into a frenzy by years of gaslighting and psychological operations. They’ve been told Trump’s Hitler, democracy’s dying, and they’re headed for camps. Meanwhile, the real threat of “camps” came for those of us who refused experimental vaccines under Biden’s overreach.
A Nation Without a Moral Compass
I said it at the top of the show, and I’ll say it again: we used to agree on the basics—patriotism, parental rights, the sanctity of life. Not anymore. Colorado’s Democrats just passed a bill to seize children from parents who don’t affirm their “gender identity.” That’s right—misgender your kid, and the state can take them. They’ve also codified abortion up to birth, and we’ve seen governors like Virginia’s Ralph Northam float infanticide as a casual option. This is moral relativism on steroids. If you don’t get your way, burn it down. If you don’t like someone, kill them. The Founding Fathers warned us: remove God, judgment, and moral law from the hearts of the people, and the republic collapses. We’re living that warning right now.
Mark pointed out the fog of war between the left and right. The left sees MAGA as violent extremists, thanks to the January 6th psy-op—yet 60% of Americans think federal agents provoked that riot. The right, now holding power, sees a government and media hand-in-glove with violent mobs. Trust in the feds is at 30%, and 72% of us fear we’re in a police state. Mark and I sparred a bit on the police— he thinks they’d hesitate in a state-federal showdown, but I’ve seen them arrest hymn-singing Christians in Idaho and tase moms at football games over masks. They’ll protect their pensions over their oaths every time.
The Spark That Could Ignite It All
So where’s the breaking point? Mark floated a scenario: a state like New Jersey shielding an illegal alien against federal law enforcement. What happens when FBI agents face off with state troopers? Or picture a state legislature voting to secede—whose paycheck do the cops and National Guard follow then? I’d add another: what if Washington undermines Trump’s agenda—say, his tariffs—and the people see their will thwarted by corporate cronies in the Senate? Seven Republican senators already jumped ship on tariffs, bowing to globalist donors while the middle class drowns. Trump might appeal directly to the people, and then what? The military? The Capitol Police? We’re in uncharted waters, folks.
A Society Undermined
This isn’t just about politics—it’s about a society gutted by decades of design. Mark nailed it: globalism crushed the middle class, concentrated wealth, and turned capitalism into cronyism. Colleges milk taxpayers to churn out propagandized kids who think October 7th was “legitimate resistance.” The Methodist Church I grew up in? Now a progressive PAC. Dating apps, dual-income households, and debt slavery have wrecked the family. Boomers clutch their 401ks while 18-to-39-year-olds—who can’t buy a house or find a spouse—back Trump most. They see him fighting for them, not the stock market.
The Future: Breakup or Burnout?
Mark’s polling on 2028 is telling. J.D. Vance barely edges out Stephen A. Smith—yes, the ESPN guy—in a hypothetical matchup (38% to 34%). Trump’s crossover appeal doesn’t translate to Vance yet; he feels too “Republican.” On the Democrat side, Kamala Harris leads a fractured field, but Stephen A. Smith’s outsider vibe pulls 24% against her 45%. The left’s too dug into their tactics—censorship, mobs, and fear—to pivot. Meanwhile, Trump’s approval dipped to 47% today amid tariff backlash, but Mark thinks it’s a blip. I agree—the man broke the mold, talks like us, and that’s why the elites hate him.
Folks, we’re at a crossroads. A moral collapse demands a reckoning. States like Tennessee or Arkansas might finally say, “Enough,” and split off. Or we’ll see violence—assassinations, riots, you name it. Join us in Waukesha next week for our first rally in seven years—over 1,000 registered, free at worldviewtube.com/events. Can’t make it? Livestream it via the Vault at worldviewtube.com/vault. Pray for us—safety, health, and a wake-up call to this nation. We’re not surviving as a republic much longer without it.
