In this next video, we have Joe Biden’s national security advisor, Jake Sullivan, closing out what is supposed to be his last press conference with a strange comment about a possible terrorist attack.

Does Sullivan know something we don’t? He certainly seems to be hedging his bets, at the very least, that he could be back at that podium in the final week before Donald Trump is inaugurated.

Former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, who was nominated by President-elect Donald Trump to be Director of National Intelligence, has flip-flopped on a position she held about a federal government program that authorizes secret court proceedings against alleged non-U.S. persons suspected of being potential terrorists.
While in Congress, the Washington Examiner noted that Gabbard was staunchly against the program known as Section 702 in the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), but has changed her tune as some senators indicated they wanted to make sure she is supportive of the measure as head of intelligence. If she refused to change her stance, a group of GOP senators made it known they would vote against her nomination. She promptly caved.
Gabbard stated:
“My prior concerns about FISA were based on insufficient protections for civil liberties, particularly regarding the FBI’s misuse of warrantless search powers on American citizens. Significant FISA reforms have been enacted since my time in Congress to address these issues. If confirmed as DNI, I will uphold Americans’ Fourth Amendment rights while maintaining vital national security tools like Section 702 to ensure the safety and freedom of the American people.”
The problem with the so-called reforms is that there is no way to prove that the FBI is using these secret surveillance powers only against foreign nationals on foreign soil. We have to take their word for it that they’re not spying on the communications of American citizens.
And, in fact, that’s exactly what former NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden has said they are doing.
Gabbard knows that. But she wanted the job and did what she had to do to get approved.

A San Diego law firm already has retired police and firefighters ready to investigate the Los Angeles-area fires to determine the cause of the devastating blazes and whom to sue, according to KNTV, an ABC affiliate in Las Vegas.
Dozens of victims of the Los Angeles area fires are turning to a San Diego law firm to help them recover from devastating losses.
Gerald Singleton, one of the nation's top lawyers when it comes to fire-related lawsuits, said his firm already has dozens of clients.
During the past two decades, his firm has represented 26,000 victims including those affected by the devastating wildfires in Hawaii.
He said:
“What we do is sue for the gap between what your insurance provides and what your actual losses are. We have experts that are retired law enforcement, retired fire department and there are cause and origin investigators. So, they will be on the ground. They will not go and interfere, but they will be as close as they can get. They'll give us the information about whether or not this is caused by a utility or some other defendant where there may be a lawsuit.”
At least 24 known lives have been lost in the LA fires as of yesterday, a number that is expected to increase before these fires get extinguished.

California Governor Gavin Newsom is trying hard not to get blamed for his state’s abject failure to respond to the Los Angeles County fires.
It’s no secret that Newsom has presidential aspirations, and this natural disaster could burn them into smoldering ash.
Newsom seems more focused on trying to score political points by slamming Donald Trump’s criticism of how the state has handled the fires. And what Trump has posted on social media is nothing compared to what’s coming from residents after these fires die down and the lawsuits start to fly.

The firefighters had no water. The Los Angeles Fire Department’s budget was cut by almost $20 million months before the blaze, even with memos from LA’s mayor showing that such cuts could detrimentally impact disaster response.
The LA fire chief, Kristin Crowley, has torched the political leadership, which led to a standoff between the fire department and the mayor’s office on Friday.
Yet, Chief Crowley isn’t absolved of her role, focusing on woke DEI initiatives instead of keeping her firefighters focused on stopping and preventing fires. She had them participating in so-called bias workshops.
Now, watch Newsom get fact-checked live on the air by a local news outlet when he said the reservoirs are full, which is not true. They weren’t, especially those that could have helped fight the Palisades fire, which is threatening to shut down the 405.

According to a report by the France 24 media outlet, Moscow accused Ukraine of conducting “energy terrorism” and posing a danger to Europe's energy security, after an attempted drone attack on part of a major gas pipeline that carries Russian supplies to Turkey.
The allegation comes amid an escalating energy war between the two countries, almost three years after Russia launched its military offensive.
Ukraine halted the transit of Russian gas to third countries via Ukraine on January 1, ending decades of energy cooperation that had brought billions of dollars to both countries, in a bid to cut off revenue for Moscow's army.
The United States last week rolled out fresh sanctions on Russia's oil sector in another blow to Moscow's vital hydrocarbon industry.
The Russian defense ministry said on Monday that Ukraine had fired nine attack drones on Saturday at a gas-compressor station in the village of Gai-Kodzor, near Russia's southern coast on the Black Sea.
The site is across from the Crimean Peninsula, which was annexed by Russia in 2014 and has been heavily targeted by Kiev throughout the three-year conflict.
Moscow said the facility was part of the TurkStream pipeline and accused Ukraine of trying to “cut off gas supplies to European countries.”

A Ukrainian coal mine in the frontline city of Pokrovsk suspended production as Russian troops close in on the key logistics hub, Reuters reported Monday, citing two industry sources.
“They have all stopped working now,” one of the unnamed sources was quoted as saying, referring to mine shafts in Pokrovsk.
“There’s no production there, they’re only working on the surface,” the second source said, adding that an evacuation of the mining facility was underway.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said earlier on Monday that its troops seized a village around 5 miles southwest of Pokrovsk.
Ukraine’s largest steel producer Metinvest announced last month that it suspended operations at its production site in the village, which provided around half of the company’s total Ukrainian coal extraction. Metinvest also owns the mining facility in Pokrovsk.
The Russian-seized village was strategically important as it supplied Ukraine’s metallurgical sector with a special type of coking coal, which is a key component in steelmaking. Metal exports are Ukraine’s second-largest foreign currency earner after agriculture.

Zero Hedge reports that Russia and Iran have unveiled plans to sign a comprehensive strategic partnership treaty on Friday when Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian visits Moscow.
The two nations dubbed pariahs by much of the West have seen their cooperation and relations grow in the context of the Ukraine war. “On January 17, Vladimir Putin will hold talks with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, who will come to Russia on an official visit,” the Kremlin announced Monday.
The much anticipated treaty has long been in the works, since at least last summer, news of which caused President Zelensky to say there's an axis of rogue states conspiring to defeat Ukraine. This has included North Korea as well, which has lost troops helping Moscow defend the Kursk region.
As for the treaty to be signed by the week's close, it was previewed as heavily focused on defense and security cooperation. Russia’s foreign ministry had previously stated that the deal “will confirm the parties’ desire for closer cooperation in the field of defense and interaction in the interests of peace and security at the regional and global levels.”

The Gateway Pundit reports that California Governor Gavin Newsom has openly admitted to collaborating with Hawaii Governor Josh Green on plans to address “land use concerns” following the devastating wildfires.
During an interview with Fox 11, Newsom revealed his intentions to take swift legal action in response to what he described as “speculators coming in, buying up properties.”
Perhaps Newsom really is concerned about nefarious actors.
Or, his comments could be covering for his own nefarious intentions to make sure the land gets into certain people’s hands.
Critics warn this could signal the beginning of a broader government land grab.
Newsom told the local news outlet:
“I was just talking to Josh Green, the governor down in Hawaii. He had some ideas around some land-use concerns he has around speculators coming in, buying up properties and the like. We’re already working with our legal teams to move those things forward, and we’ll be presenting those in a matter of days, not just weeks.”

I have to say, the governor’s body language there appeared a little off. Maybe it’s just me, but he gave off questionable vibes. The governor’s office definitely needs to be watched in the coming days, weeks and months as California deals with this tragedy.

Time now for our nightly Worldview Report commentary.
A beloved hiking trail may hold the keys to answering the big question on everybody’s mind. What sparked the devastating Palisades fire in LA? We already know that some of the other fires were started by arsonists. Several arrests have been made, although the real perpetrators may never face justice in a corrupt legal system like what we have in California.
But according to a new report in the LA Times, hikers and outdoor enthusiasts have long been drawn to Skull Rock north of Sunset Boulevard in Pacific Palisades and this is the area investigators are focusing on.
A relatively short hike on the Temescal Ridge trail reveals the skeletal-shaped rock formation offering dramatic views of the Pacific Ocean.
Now, according to the Times, this area is the subject of an investigation as a potential starting point for the Palisades fire, which has burned thousands of structures over the last week.
It's unclear where the fire started, and its cause is under investigation.
The general area was the site of a small fire on New Year's Eve that burned for a few hours before fire officials said they snuffed it out with help from a water-dropping helicopter.
Sources with knowledge of the investigation told The Times that officials are aware of the earlier fire and its general proximity to the Palisades fire. They are looking into whether that could be the cause. Because the area is frequented by the public, the sources said it's possible a new fire was somehow sparked or set there on January 7.
The earlier fire appears to have been sparked by fireworks, officials said.
As for the Palisades fire, the sources, who spoke to the Times anonymously, said it appears to have human origins, but that the investigation is ongoing. They noted the area is frequented by hikers, teenagers and others.
One thing is for sure. The fire’s origins have nothing to do with climate change, which is the popular theory circulating in the mainstream corporate media.
