In Hebrews we learn that, “…the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword.”  In Psalms we learn that God’s word, “…is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”  In Romans we learn that the Scriptures give us hope.  In Matthew (and Deuteronomy) we learn that, “…man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”  Finally, in 1 Peter we see that, “…the word of the Lord endureth forever.”

Doesn’t that give you strength, hope, comfort and endurance?  Many Christians will tell you that when they go through difficult times, they reach over to their Bible and read from the Psalms to receive encouragement.

Imagine reaching out for such comfort but there’s no Bible!  This may seem strange in our day when Bibles seem everywhere, including via apps on our smart phones yet many around the world have no access to the Scriptures.

Would you be willing to share at least one of the print Bibles you have in your possession?

Jason Woolford is president and executive director of Mission Cry and his organization is having a Fall Bible drive, collecting Bibles and shipping them around the world.

Mission Cry began about 70 years ago with a junk dealer who found some used Bibles and Christian books and didn’t want to throw them out.  He saved them until they became one full box and sent it off to India.  Since then, Mission Cry has sent over 450 million dollars worth of used Bibles and Christian materials to over 181 nations.  They came via people from around America as statistics show that the average American home has 6 Bibles sitting on shelves.

At Mission Cry the Bibles that are sent to them get sorted, are packaged, boxed and put on pallets.  Then when they’re sponsored (sponsoring a container costs $11,000), they’re put on a sea container (a container has half a million dollars worth of free materials) and get shipped to distribution points around the world where they are freely distributed to those in need.  This would include lending libraries, seminaries, colleges and for evangelism.

Here’s one example showing why this effort is so important.  A “guy on the ground” in China for Mission Cry has said that the printed form of God’s Word is more important now because China has worked with Apple and Android to remove Bible apps from their phones.  In other words, Mission Cry is able to get print Bibles into Communist China and they need your help!
