Brannons guest is Dr. Tommy Ice who is an expert on many things including church history in America. Tommy explains how the reconstructionist and the Word of Faith movement converged in 1984. This is a real history lesson on how American Christianity arrived at where it is today with the merging of evangelicals with the New Apostolic Reformation and the World of Faith movement. Brannon and Tommy also discuss the religious right of the 1970s and 1980s versus the New Religious Right of today. Dr. Ice explains how the religious right was formed during the presidency of Jimmy Carter with leaders like Jerry Falwell, Adrian Rogers, and Dr. D. James Kennedy. Tommy also revealed that his friend Jerry Falwell preached a sermon one month before his death on the dangers of the Emergent Church. Dr. Ice stated on my radio program that at the conclusion of this sermon he approached Dr. Falwell to thank him for his sermon. Dr. Ice reported that Dr. Falwell told him, and Mrs. Ice, that he was going to break ties with Pastor Rick Warren as he believed that Warren was embracing many of the ideas of the Emergent Church. Tommy and Brannon explain why many of the now deceased leaders of the religious right from the 1970s and 1980s would not agree with the theological and doctrinal compromise of many of the leaders of todays New Religious Right and why they would not be a part of The Response on August 6, 2011.
