WITCHES & JESUITS Chris discusses the recent story of how a Wiccan priestess was invited to give the invocation or "prayer" for Iowa legislators. The event was done in an attempt to show "inclusiveness" for all beliefs in the state of Iowa. There is no question that such events arise from the modern day interpretation of the First Amendment and the concept of universal toleration. But where does this doctrine hail from? Incredibly, it was this same doctrine that was employed by Jesuit priests as part of the Counter Reformation through the Middle Ages. The Jesuits were even said to be allegorically portrayed as witches in Shakespeare's famous play, Macbeth.
