SOCIALISM & CAPITAL PUNISHMENT Chris discusses a series of stories involving Pope Francis and his continued opposition to the death penalty. While the Scriptures make it clear that God instituted capital punishment as a restraint against the crime of murder (Genesis 9:6), the Jesuit Order has long held to an anti-death penalty view in the United States. Not coincidentally, the official platform of most every Socialist group in America is also against capital punishment -- for any crime, no matter how horrible. The Bible is often referred to in such debates, with those on the left arguing that Jesus would condemn the death penalty. But is this really the case? Did Christ do away with God's command?
