THE JESUITS IN SCOTLAND Chris discusses the history of the Jesuits and their activities in Scotland in the 19th century, according to Protestant historian, J.A. Wylie. Wylie warned of the deteriorating influence of Rome once her priests gained the ascendency in any country, as she had done so many times through the Middle Ages. He wrote: "It is not the bodies of its living men merely that the Jesuits will trample into the grave. It is the manhood, the virtue, the patriotism, the piety of the land which he will waste and trample down. All that is lovely and noble and good will wither and die under the sirocco breath of Jesuitism." As we see the influence of Rome growing in our own country, and at a global level, what can be in store for the world as we know it?
