THE LORD IS A MAN OF WAR Chris continues his review of the book, "Sacred Scripture, Sacred War" focusing on Exodus 15:3 in which the song of Moses declares that the Lord is a "man of war." The verse was spoken after the Lord destroyed the armies of Pharaoh in the Red Sea, delivering the children of Israel from their enemy. This was one of many Scriptures preached by ministers during the Revolutionary era to encourage the colonists in their fight against England. Also discussed are the controversial Biblical passages in which Christians are commanded to obey governing authorities. The Revolutionary preachers argued that such verses actually worked in favor of the Revolution rather than against it.
