Most of us are somewhat out of shape, and for us to make a decent showing at a track meet, well, that would take a miracle. It takes another kind of miracle to set us on the road to heaven. All the effort we could ever expend won’t take us an inch in heaven’s direction. Jesus told us that what we need is the miracle of the new birth.
