Bible-Driven Living in London

One of the great blessings of a healthy church is that it is composed of many people who are hungry to be discipled and trained to study the Scriptures in depth. And while we might think of seminary or Bible College as a helpful outlet for these dear people—thinking of all the advantages of that kind of study—the shepherds of God’s flock are not called to merely “farm out” only a few select sheep to the academy. Pastors and teachers are tasked with equipping all the saints for the work of the ministry (Eph 4:12), using the resources available to them to entrust the things which they have learned from sound teachers to faithful men who will be able then to teach others also (2 Tim 2:2). This is the model for the growing maturity in the local church. Our close friends at GraceLife London are taking this challenge seriously. Just under three years ago our dear brothers, Tom Drion and Ross Orgill, graduated from The Master’s Seminary and headed back to their home country to plant a church in the heart of London. It has been a privilege to pray for them and to support them, and a great blessing to see the way the Lord has blessed their labors in this short time. He has given them a dear flock of faithful men and women who are eager to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. As a result, they’ve decided to host a Summer Institute of biblical training.Spread over two weeks, with 6 hours of classes every day, we’re hoping to see people benefit from some of the privileges of a period of intense study, while not taking them away from the daily responsibilities of life. With classes in Bible interpretation, biblical counseling, prayer, biblical parenting, and a survey of the whole Old Testament, these two weeks represent essential skills for anyone who wants to dig deep into God’s Word and learn how to drive their life along Biblical lines.GraceLife London is also hosting “A Day for Change,” an all-day conference on Saturday, August 3rd, featuring both men’s and women’s tracks. Ladies are invited to multiple seminar sessions on “Becoming a Woman of the Word,” with seminars on getting a biblical view of God and self, how to respond joyfully in trials, battling fear and anxiety, and counsel regarding studying and memorizing Scripture. Men are welcome to a day focused on “Putting Porn in the Past,” with seminars aiming to equip Christ’s people in the battle of overcoming sexual temptation. And we would all love to have you join us! This isn’t just limited to the dear flock at GraceLife London, but registration is open (see the bottom of this page) for anyone who can make it!  If you’re in the London area from July 29th to August 9th, please consider attending any or all of the conference. It would be an absolute pleasure to meet you, to encourage you and be encouraged by you in the Lord, and to serve you through this conference.
