Judge Roberts Worked For Bush 41 Administration to Overturn Roe v. Wade
As an attorney John Roberts co-wrote a Supreme Court brief for the President George H. Bush administration in which argued that the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that overturned state laws banning abortion was wrongly decided.
In that brief Roberts wrote, "We continue to believe that Roe was wrongly decided and should be overruled." When asked about this during his 2003 confirmation hearing for his own views on the matter, Mr. Roberts said: "Roe v. Wade is the settled law of the land. ... There's nothing in my personal views that would prevent me from fully and faithfully applying that precedent."
