Joel Rosenberg, NAR, IHOP – Encouraging News
A few weeks ago I shared with you many resources as to why it was dangerous for Rick Perry to be involved with the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) as he hosted The Response prayer event in Houston, Texas on August 6th, 2011. Previously I had shared an article from Brannon House as to why Christians should not be involved in this prayer rally. Though it may have been well-intentioned, believers should never yoke themselves with professing Christians who compromise the Gospel. It was disappointing, then, to learn that Joel Rosenberg would be endorsing The Response event, and more disheartening, that he defended his doing so afterwards despite acknowledging having "serious and fundamental theological differences with some of those involved in the event" (source).
It is with great encouragement that I share with you an update regarding Rosenberg and his understanding of the NAR. Brannon Howse announced on his radio show last week he had spent 1 hour and 45 minutes with Rosenberg discussing the issues surrounding The Response (thanks to Christine Pack of the Sola Sisters blog for informing me of this yesterday). According to Howse, Rosenberg was very appreciative, humble, teachable, and eager to learn more about the dangers of the NAR. As I listened to the show, I was praising God in hearing this positive news.
It was not easy for me to address my concerns with Joel Rosenberg in the article a few weeks ago as I highly respect him as a Christian author and watchman on the wall. His insight to geopolitical events as they may relate to biblical prophecy is nothing short of astonishing, and I have always found him to be a humble servant eager to serve the people of the Middle East no matter their race, ethnicity, or religion through The Joshua Fund. So while it did not please me to write about such things, I am very happy to see hear of this encouraging news.
