Texas has passed legislation that will allow for a gold backed, bank of Texas of which people from other states can open an account and write checks based on their own personal gold deposits. In setting up their gold depository, Texas is having their gold that is currently in New York, returned to them in Texas. The good news about this new gold bank is that it will not be involved in the very risky fractional reserve banking system. The money deposited in this Texas owned bank will not be loaded out to others. What is Texas preparing for? Are more states likely to follow the example of Texas?
