CHRISTIANITY & THE CONSTITUTION
Chris continues his discussion on the history of America and Christianity, discussing the First Amendment in particular. Was the First Amendment originally intended to reduce the influence of Christianity and make it equal to all other religions or beliefs in the country? The testimony of Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story sheds light on the issue, as Story was appointed by James Madison, the man who wrote the First Amendment and is considered "the father of the Constitution." Also, if a Supreme Court decision becomes "the law of the land" as we are being told on the gay "marriage" ruling -- then what does that mean for the declaration of 1892, where, in Holy Trinity v. United States, the U.S. Supreme Court declared that the United States "... is a Christian nation"?
