Crosstalk: January 15, 2020
We are living in very troublesome times. For example, a very contentious presidential election is underway. Articles of impeachment that were so important for the House to pass have been stalled since Christmas. World conditions concerning Iran have deteriorated.
Does the Bible point to such a time? Jim reminded listeners about II Timothy 3:
‘This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.’
Then in verse 13 we see the following:
‘But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.’
This is very much a commentary of what we’re seeing around the world today and Jim took this time to share other up-to-the-minute, specific news examples that also highlight this point:
–Students at an Iranian university are being offered a novel, new career choice: Become a suicide terrorist against the United States and Israel.
–Charges have been upgraded against a man who allegedly slashed tires of multiple vehicles at churches in Palos Hills last year because he didn’t like Christians.
–In Norway 4 Muslim men assaulted and kidnapped a Christian preacher and demanded he convert to Islam or be killed.
–Marvel Comics have another Muslim ‘superhero’. This one is from Dearborn, Michigan.
–Beginning February 1st, all religious groups in China will be forced to teach the principles of the Chinese communist party.
