Crosstalk: January 25, 2016

On this 43rd anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, Jim began Crosstalk by explaining the tolling bell that would be heard throughout the program. Each toll represented approximately 258,000 abortions, a process that occurs about every 17 seconds in America. In total, approximately 58 million babies have fallen victim to abortion due to Roe v. Wade. After reviewing the historical time-line of the Roe decision and the pertinent people involved, Jim mentioned many news stories related to this great holocaust including: --National Right to Life estimates that since abortion became legal abortion is a tragedy not only because an innocent child dies, but because of the lasting impact abortion has on the mother. --In late November of 2015 the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found a 4.2% drop in the number of abortions for the 2012 reporting year. --Hundreds of thousands of Americans participating in the annual March for Life represents a deeply unsettled issue for our nation. It's the lives of children in their first nine months who are not protected by law. --Debbie Wasserman Schultz laments the fact that Millennial women are not activists for abortion rights and are complacent because their entire lives have been lived after Roe v. Wade was decided. --The House of Representatives will attempt to override President Obama's veto of a Planned Parenthood defunding measure. --Some abortion doctors use religion to justify their practice. --This week the Supreme Court announced they will not hear an appeal that would reinstate an Arkansas law prohibiting abortion if an unborn child has a heartbeat. --The full Kansas Court of Appeals issued a decision today that maintains the status quo blocking the first-in-the-nation law banning gruesome dismemberment abortions. --Florida legislators are moving forward with a bill that would protect women by holding abortion clinics accountable to higher health and safety standards. --This week the Wisconsin State Senate approved two bills that will help further defund Planned Parenthood. --An Alliance Defending Freedom public records request has revealed that Planned Parenthood's Wisconsin affiliate provided researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with the hearts and brains of unborn babies up to 18 weeks old and within 5 minutes of being aborted. Both UW and Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin have denied any such exchange. --Liberty Counsel has filed a lawsuit on behalf of 3 faith-based crisis pregnancy centers in California challenging the law that went into effect on January 1st requiring non-profit centers to provide information about the availability of abortion to patients. --Planned Parenthood of Illinois is forging through the controversy, steadily expanding services and moving ahead with ambitious makeovers of their organization's 17 health centers in the state. --An abortionist known for burning the bodies of aborted babies has lost his license after Oklahoma state officials busted him for illegally selling abortion-causing drugs. --6 years ago this February, the Drug Enforcement Agency raided a doctor's office in West Philadelphia, PA, expecting to uncover a 'pill mill' but instead found a 'house of horrors' which led to numerous charges against late term abortionist Kermit Gosnell. --Alpha Care, the Philadelphia women's clinic that shares a wall with the clinic Gosnell occupied, is relocating. --NARAL Pro-Choice America released a statement claiming abortion foes are the minority in America. --The Guttmacher Institute revealed that states across America passed nearly as many laws protecting pre-born children in the last 5 years as in the previous 15. --John McCain loses a major GOP endorsement. --Planned Parenthood and its affiliates attempting a lawsuit against the Center for Medical Progress.
