Since Hillary Clinton left the Secretary of State's office, there's been revelations of her using a private, unsecured e-mail server for government business. Early on she indicted that there were no e-mails marked 'classified' that entered her system yet the Inspector General's office has indicated at least two of those e-mails were top secret with others being so sensitive that even senior lawmakers weren't allowed to read them. Joining Jim to examine this issue more closely was Jim Kouri. Jim is formerly fifth vice-president and now a board member and public information officer of the National Association of Chiefs of Police. He's a consultant on homeland security, public safety and political matters. He's also served in various security positions and served on the National Drug Task Force and trained police and security officers throughout the country. The State Department, President Obama and the White House claim that they did not know Hillary Clinton was using her own e-mail server until she was asked to turn over all State Department related e-mails so they could turn them over to Congress and to the organizations who had Freedom of Information Act applications. This was related mainly to the Benghazi probe which is the issue that ignited this larger issue. Originally it was said that she had this private server and that they had already turned over her e-mails to the State Department that were pertinent to the department and deleted or scrubbed the server therefore there were no more e-mails to be seen. Interestingly, Kouri noted that even before Clinton was sworn in as Secretary of State, her e-mail server had already been installed. The contract had been given to a company that was based in Colorado. This company had no security clearance. Her actual use of the server for government business began on March 18th 2009. This was against regulations and no one seemed to know about it. Jim interjected that this would seem preposterous because it would indicate that President Obama and the State Department had no e-mail communication with Clinton. So how is it possible that no one knew about this? Kouri said that later on it was discovered that there were people who were aware of her private e-mail server. For example, Huma Abedin received an e-mail from one of the top people at the State Department advising her to tell Clinton that she was not supposed to be using a private e-mail server and that she should start using the .gov e-mail for State Department business. Did enemy nations have access to the e-mail information? Are indictments against Clinton forthcoming? These and other questions are answered when you review this edition of Crosstalk.
