Crosstalk: October 30, 2019

Today’s SOAPBOX edition of CROSSTALK begins with a story from The Times (Britain). The headline:

“Getting Rid of God Would Make World Less Moral.”

According to Faithwire.com, Richard Dawkins (atheist) admits that eliminating God from public consciousness would pose huge problems.  He insists that if religion were abolished, it would “give people a license to do really bad things.” To further make his point, he says that without a higher being “people may feel free to do bad things because they feel God is no longer watching them.” He admits that he hates the idea and has hope that humans would be “better than that…”

Dawkins comments are in front of a new book he is releasing that endeavors to find out if people will be “good” if they felt no one was watching. His comments have drawn attention from Christians – including Ken Ham (Creation Museum) who says “Dawkins has spent his life fighting against God (the God he doesn’t believe even exists), but still recognizes that atheism doesn’t provide the foundation for morality….without a biblical foundation, anything goes.”

Regarding today’s SOAPBOX (?) Perhaps you’re not familiar with the terminology of getting out a soapbox; a platform to stand on in a crowd in which to make a speech. Often times it served for politics, but, originates from the times in which speakers would elevate themselves above the ground by standing on a wooden crate that was used for the shipment of soap or other dry goods from a manufacturer to a retail store. Though soapboxes are not plentiful today, CROSSTALK (with the analogy), allows listeners to comment on whatever concerns them.  The issues of impeachment, atheism, California fires, transgender-ism, Sandra Merritt, Christian persecution, Halloween and many other subjects are discussed – a must listen!!
