John Loeffler: February 29, 2016
In response to a lawsuit by the FBI, a California judge has ordered Apple Corporation to unlock an iPhone used by Syed Farook, one of the San Bernardino shooters. In this weeks boralogue, John asks if the FBI is granted a backdoor to this cell phone, will it stop there or will they be given unfettered access to spy on all Americans? For the sake of security, we are once again being asked to sacrifice a little bit of liberty. Diving deeper into the iPhone case, we welcome John McAfee developer of the first commercial anti-virus program and current Libertarian candidate for president, who discusses the FBIs true motivations and shows us why our government needs to change its perception of hackers and cyber security before its too late. Occasionally, a story of how God works in a persons life to inspire and uplift others is too incredible not to share. Richard Peters, retired Seal Team 6 member and head of Armor Up Evangelism, recounts his harrowing experience with spiritual warfare in a Libyan prison and how that led to his current ministry encouraging others in the Lord. Chinese leaders have maintained a steady campaign of encroachment in the South China Sea, establishing military bases on hastily constructed islands. Todd Crowell (www.thediplomat.com), Japan correspondent for Turkeys Anadolu news agency, joins us from Tokyo to analyze Chinas plan for regional hegemony and gauge reactions from the rest of East Asia. Johns quote of the week: If you destroy the very legal instrument which creates and preserves liberty, what protects you in the flood that follows if you pull it down? The answer is: nothing. As always, join us online for our Section 6 intelligence briefing featuring analysis by John on important stories highlighting emerging geopolitical trends around the world.
