John Loeffler: January 16, 2017

Middle East peace talks begin this weekend in Paris while neither Israel nor any Palestinian group has been invited.  In this week’s boralogue, John looks at the history of the term Palestinian, who actually occupied the West Bank and Gaza before 1967, and the most likely outcome of the talks: a plan for a two-state solution.  How will this affect the area’s future?

A bill was recently signed into law that would establish a government office to disseminate U.S. foreign policy and to combat fake news.  In other words, we may soon have an official Ministry of Truth.  We welcome back Alex Newman (www.thenewamerican.com), Correspondent for The New American, who points out that certain journalists could be labeled as illegitimate just for disagreeing with the government.

As we air our final show of the Obama administration era, we are taking a look at the president’s legacy.  Fox News Strategic Analyst Lt. Col. Ralph Peters (www.foxnews.com) examines the weakened status and poor morale in our military and what Trump can do to improve it.  He also analyzes foreign policy issues concerning Russia, China, and Iran.

President Obama has touted his legacy as positive in nearly every respect, however the truth lies far below that.  Jeffery Tucker (www.fee.org), Director of Content for the Foundation for Economic Education discusses the president’s poor handling of the economy, including implementing both Obamacare and oppressive business regulations.

Leftists have been operating from the Alinsky playbook for decades, but now President-elect Trump is using those same methods against them.  Dr. Tome Borelli (www.conservativereview.com), Contributor at Conservative Review contrasts how Trump is using companies to lobby for tax reform versus how Obama used drug companies to lobby for Obamacare and bigger government.

John’s quote of the week:

“I’m sure people would like to see peace in the Middle East but you have to ask on what terms and at what cost.  Given the current biases present in the United Nations against Israel, those are very sobering questions.”
