John Loeffler: January 25, 2016

In the land of political correctness, up is down, down is up, and we’re all stumbling around on a pitching deck of moral non-absolutes, unsure of what to say or do. In this week’s boralogue, John explores this constantly shifting land where multiculturalism is king, collective rights trump those of the individual, and the one unpardonable sin is to reject the failed scheme of the progressive clergy. In order to get our footing, we need to ridicule this self-contradictory and bankrupt system. With Europe hovering at the edge of this pitching deck, will the United States have the courage to honestly debate issues that are threatening us? Pete Hoekstra (www.investigativeproject.org), former Republican U.S. Congressman from Michigan, examines the need for honest discussion regardless of cries from the politically correct, and gives an overview of the nuclear relationships between North Korea, Iran, and Syria. Throughout the Muslim world, the idea that Israel shouldn’t have the right to exist is common. But are evangelical Christians beginning to feel the same way? Tricia Miller (www.camera.org), Senior Research Analyst with CAMERA, explains that theological views and political narratives can mix, leaving evangelicals with a pro-Palestinian mindset when it comes to the state of Israel. Plummeting oil prices dominated headlines this week. John takes a moment to examine the onset of fracking as an economic phenomenon, and how Saudi Arabia is purposefully bucking market trends. Energy, ideology, and currency all converge geopolitically to explain what’s going on. Finally, we welcome Sue Ellen Browder, a freelance writer and author of the new book “Subverted,” who recounts her time with Cosmopolitan Magazine in the 1970s and how the sexual revolution, through abortion and the question of choice, hijacked the women’s movement. John’s quote of the week: “Multiculturalism must triumph and the constantly changing list of dos and don’ts must trump everything else. Indeed, key civil rights are being slaughtered in this onslaught of death by a thousand qualifications, which always require some elitist hierarchy to tell us what applies at any given moment.” As always, join us online for our Section 6 intelligence briefing featuring analysis by John on important stories highlighting emerging geopolitical trends around the world. This week, John takes a unique look at the power groupings in the Middle East and how they are interacting with each other.
