John Loeffler: July 13, 2015
How exactly did Greece end up in this position? In this weeks boralogue, John reviews the steps taken by countries that result in the quagmire Greece finds itself in today. Convincing, yet empty promises evolve into large bureaucracies, corruption, and higher taxes. Inflation results, debts cant be paid, austerity begins, and people realize that something for nothing is a myth. Politicians play the blame game as banks fail and the very citizens who were to benefit from those convincing promises are left to ponder what happened. Greece is there today. Will the U.S. be there tomorrow? However did we get here with education? George Bernard Shaw said, We learn from history that we learn nothing from history. With Common Core in the classroom, that may literally be the truth. Dennis Cuddy, former Senior Associate at the U.S. Department of Education, joins us to look at the history of Common Core curriculum, its politically correct selection of topics to teach, and the truth behind what socialist architects were really trying to accomplish. A day of reckoning is imminent in Greece, as years of bloated government spending have finally caught up to the beleaguered nation. Trinity Advisors founder John Sitilides examines the harsh reality of circumstances facing citizens in Greece and how it compares with Americas current financial situation. Greeces recent no vote on austerity measures will ultimately do little to hold back creditors. Pat Wood, Founder of the August Corporation, continues our discussion on Greece by showing how this transformation of the global economy links to the issues of technocracy, sustainable development, and Pope Franciss recent encyclical on climate change.
