Spiritual Needs in South Sudan | September 30, 2024

William Levi is founder and overseer of Operation Nehemiah Missions, International.  William is a Messianic believer.  He was trained academically as a manufacturing engineer.  He relinquished his engineering career to answer God’s calling in his life to establish Operation Nehemiah Missions in 1993.  His ministry in South Sudan is focused on rebuilding and restoring the biblical family and the Church in the republic of South Sudan which is recovering from the ashes of war & Islamic persecution.  Their theme verse comes from Nehemiah 2:18, “Let us rise up and build.  So they strengthened their hands for this good work.”

Discussion began with William giving listeners an overview of the history of Operation Nehemiah Missions, which included the development of a radio station on Gordon Mountain, a project that many long-time VCY listeners will remember.

Having grown up in a Messianic Jewish home, William spent much of his life running from Islamic persecution.  He grew up as a refugee in Uganda, eventually returning to South Sudan in the mid-70’s.  At one point he was arrested, taken captive, tortured and beaten for refusing to make a false confession for Islam.  Much of this is documented in the book: The Bible or the Axe—One Man’s Dramatic Escape from Persecution in the Sudan.

Listen to this broadcast to get more information and hear how God has used William for such a time as this.  The result?  10 churches and 12 pastors have been raised up in order to proclaim God’s Word to South Sudan!
