Brannon Howse: Tonight on the Worldview Weekend Hour. Exposing the lies of the Neo-Evangelicals, Neo-Calvinists and their Cultural Marxist race baiting. You’ll hear and see the audio clips of a man who spoke in April 2018 before 12,000 pastors and ministry leaders. His name? David Platt. He’s very popular among today’s young people and many pastors and Christian denominations. He declared that the church in America is deepening the racial divide. He claims that we are immersed in racism. And he says racism is alive and well–evident by the crime in black communities and income disparities.
Are these examples of racism? Or examples of the failed socialist policies of our governments at the state, local and federal level? The Worldview Weekend Hour begins right now.
Announcer: WVWTV presents the Worldview Weekend Hour with Brannon Howse. Whether the topic is law, science, government, economics, history, family, social issues, education or theology, Brannon brings the issues of today into clear focus through the lens of a biblical worldview. And now, here is your host, Brannon Howse.
Brannon Howse: Welcome to the program. Thank you for joining us. Tonight we talk about the Neo-Marxist ideals infiltrating evangelicalism. Remember in 1933, as we’ve discussed so many times, the Frankfurt School came to America at the invitation of John Dewey. And they were dropped down at Brandeis, Berkeley, and Princeton. Their goal was a cultural revolution. They said, according to one of their leaders, Herbert Marcuse, the old way of revolution was old fashioned. The new way was a diffused and dispersed disintegration of the system.
To do that they said they must attack the entire cultural establishment. That meant the family, capitalism, our free market system, and religion as we know it. In fact, Herbert Marcuse openly wrote in a paper in the mid-60s that there was the need to be extremely intolerant toward those that he deemed to be intolerant – Christians and capitalists.
He openly wrote about the need to deprive Christians and conservatives of freedom of speech and peaceful assembly–that to deal with intolerance and the intolerance of the Christians and conservatives, they, the progressives and the socialists, must be even more intolerant.
Well, of course we know that it is not intolerant to believe in absolute truth, original sin, or to believe in the free market system. But that’s what the Cultural Marxists believe.
To bring about this revolution, they openly wrote that they needed to create a coalition of victims–poor, minorities, immigrants, the feminists, and the sexual liberation movement. Well, tonight you’re going to hear how one pastor I believe by the name of David Platt, who’s very popular within the Southern Baptist Convention which is America’s largest Protestant association or denomination, is talking before 12,000 pastors and ministry leaders about race and racism. And then offers up the solution. It’ll take us two programs to get through this.
Now why is this important? For a couple reasons. David Platt is very popular, particularly with young people and pastors. He’s the author of a couple books, one of them called Radical. It’s nothing more, I believe, than a treatise on social justice. He also pastors a large church in northern Virginia. At one time until recently he was the president of the International Mission Board, part of the Southern Baptist Convention. In fact, along with his friend, Russell Moore at the Ethics, Religious and Liberty Commission, also a part of the Southern Baptist Convention, David Platt, along with Russell Moore, filed an amicus brief to the courts to defend the building of a mosque in New Jersey.
David Platt, also, as of this week, become the daily Bible teacher on hundreds of radio stations as the lead Bible teacher and host of Back to the Bible. Back to the Bible is a radio ministry that was started in about 1939 by Theodore Epp. He was a godly man and, for many years, we have supported Back to the Bible. In fact, one of their last Bible teachers, Woodrow Kroll, spoke for our Worldview Weekend many times. But clearly, something has happened at Back to the Bible. And now they’re bringing in a social justice warrior like David Platt to teach their daily broadcast.
Now this is very, very troubling. Why? Because David Platt, I believe, will now convince many older Christians to follow his worldview by wrapping his Cultural Marxism around Bible talk. After all, the program is called Back to the Bible.
Am I saying that David Platt will never teach or preach or proclaim a good and solid sermon? No, I’m not. In fact, I believe that’s what makes men like David Platt so dangerous. They teach a good solid sermon and in context, and thereby, gain credibility of their audience. And then, the next thing you know, they’re promoting the kind of rubbish you’re going to hear tonight out of his own mouth as we play these video clips.
So again, I believe this is nothing more than the dialectical deception–pitting truth and error against each other and then bringing it together in a synthesis. David Platt will teach biblical truth and then he’ll turn around, I believe, and proclaim the ideals of the Cultural Marxists and their ‘skubula’ (a term the Apostle Paul used)–merging them together and bringing the Cultural Marxism right into the camp of mainstream evangelicalism. That, my friends, is very deceptive for most people. They can’t see through it. They don’t have the Bible knowledge, the history or the discernment to see through it. But that’s why we’re here to offer up this broadcast as a service and a warning so the true church, real Christians, will not be deceived by this mixture of truth and error.
David Platt has openly talked about the need to recruit and go after 18 to 25 year old students for their ultimate goals and purposes. Are you prepared to refute the lies of Cultural Marxism spewed by many of today’s leading evangelical pastors and authors? I hope you are. And I pray this broadcast will help you do just that.
Watch this first clip. Remember, David is speaking before 12,000 pastors and ministry leaders in April 2018 at Together for the Gospel in Kentucky. I think their conference really should have been called “Together for the Cultural Marxist Gospel” because of many of the things that were said–not that every person there was proclaiming Cultural Marxism or embracing it–but many of them clearly were proclaiming something other than a biblical worldview, as you’ll see tonight. Watch this first clip.
David Platt: [quote] Second, more specifically I’m applying this text to the historic and current injustice associated with the white/black divide in the United States. Which is not the only kind of racial injustice. The church I have the honor of serving has over 106 different nations represented in it. One hundred and six different ethnicities. You face hundreds of unique challenges. And pastorally, we can’t ignore those challenges. Yet, tonight, I’m considering particular injustice among white/black relationships in our culture. So with those caveats I’ll ask the question again.
As pastors of churches, of worshiping communities who gather together with our congregations every week to sing our songs and give our offerings to God above us, have we been or are we now slow to speak and work against racial injustice around us? And I am convinced the answer to that question is a resounding yes. In fact, I’m about to make a broad statement, which I know is dangerous because 12,000 of you have lived 12,000 different lives with 12,000 different experiences. But on a whole pastors in America and the churches we lead instead of bridging the racial divide in our country have historically widened and are currently widening the racial divide in our country. Pastors in America and the churches we lead instead of bridging the racial divide in our country have historically widened and are currently widening the racial divide in our country. [end quote]
Brannon Howse: Okay. So give us examples, David. He says racial injustice. The church has been slow on reacting to racial injustice. Give me examples. See the problem is David has a skewed and erroneous definition of racial injustice. As you’re going to hear, he believes that because there is crime that that is because of racial injustice. He believes that because there are income disparities that is because of racial injustice. David’s problem is he starts out with a false premise. And that is an erroneous definition of racial injustice.
Now I ask, David, give us examples of how churches have widened or are widening the racial divide in America. David makes a lot of claims, but he doesn’t provide much evidence. And in fact, what he does provide actually contradicts what he’s saying. Because you see David has a lot of degrees. Oh, yes, go look it up. David has a lot of degrees. But while he can buy an education, apparently he cannot purchase common sense. David, my friends, I think, is a perfect example of an educated simpleton. Watch this next clip.
David Platt: [quote] In this sinful world we differentiate according to supposed race. And for this reason we must look at the reality of racism. And when I use that term I’m not just referring to the extremes that we often think of. Extremes that help us, particularly those of us who are white, distance ourselves from racism. So when I use that term, I’m referring to – so here’s the definition I'm using. A system–could be individual, could be institutional, could be societal–a system in which race and specifically as we’re talking tonight, black or white skin color, profoundly affects people’s economic, political and social experiences. A system in which race is significant enough to be regularly acknowledged and mentioned. A system of thought, practice that is ever subtly present among us and me. [end quote]
Brannon Howse: Now, as we continue watching, we’re going to see that what David Platt is going to do is play right into the hands of the Neo-Marxists, the Cultural Marxists. Karl Marx, the father of communism, wrote the Communist Manifesto in 1848. He was involved in class warfare–pitting the haves against the have-nots–blaming all of the problems of the world on Christians and capitalists. It was Karl Marx who said, “my object in life is to dethrone God and destroy capitalism.” And so he would pit classes of people against each other.
In fact, it was Karl Marx who put people into economic classes. This in itself is wrong because it’s hard to classify who is middle class and who is not, who is rich, who is not, because these are often subjective terms or definitions. Someone making $50,000.00 living in Huron, South Dakota can live a very middle class income. Someone making $100,000.00 a year might be considered rich, but if they live in Washington, DC or New York City, Manhattan, $100,000.00 doesn’t go very far. In fact, the person making $50,000.00 living in Huron, South Dakota could probably live much more affluently than the person making $100,000.00 living in Washington, DC.
But you see, many people would claim someone making $100,000.00 a year was certainly middle to upper class. While someone making $50,000.00 a year may be just middle class. But you see how these terms really are hard to define based on where the person lives and what their cost of living is? Again, people don’t think beyond just hearing the income figure.
But that’s what Karl Marx wanted. He wanted to put people against each other by economic class. Then along came the Frankfurt School, literally known as a Marxist institution. They declared that they would take the ideals of Marx a little bit further. And instead of just pitting economic classes against each other they would pit cultures against each other. They would pit people against each other. They taught that they would create a culture war.
Remember Herbert Marcuse who coined the phrase ‘make love, not war?’ Remember he said the old way of revolution is old fashioned. The new way is a diffused and dispersed disintegration of the system. What system? Well, he went on to say. The cultural establishment. All of the cultural establishment. Whatever makes up the culture of America. Family. The free market system. Religion. Individuality. Patriotism. We will go after all of it. Whatever is the establishment of the American culture, we will go after it and destroy it. That’s what they said.
So Karl Marx wanted to pit classes of people against each other economically. The Frankfurt School said we’ll not only pit people against each other economically, but we’ll pit people against each other from a value standpoint. From a cultural standpoint.
To do this, again, Herbert Marcuse openly wrote about the need to create a coalition of victims. Again, he said they would make the poor, minorities, feminists, and the sexual liberation movement, such as homosexuals, the victims. And who are their oppressors? Christians and capitalists–particularly white Christians and capitalists–thereby showing that the source of all suffering and oppression is Christianity and capitalism.
But to promote Marxism they had to camouflage it. So they camouflaged it in political correctness or cultural Marxism. They camouflaged it by promoting such concepts as racism. Because if you camouflage Marxism with racism how is anyone going to criticize their Marxism without being portrayed as a racist and a bigot? Do you see what I’m saying?
They had to create racial offenses. Notice what I just said. They had to create racial offenses–blame those so-called racial offenses on Christians, conservatives and capitalists, and offer as the solution, big government. Socialism. The economic philosophies of Karl Marx. Anyone thus opposing those socialist progressive big government ideals obviously must be a racist, a bigot. You see how this works?
But the problem is a false definition of racial injustice. As David Platt is laying out. He is going to describe racial injustice as things that have nothing to do with racism but have to do with the failure–the fruit and failure of socialism. So David declares that racism is a system in which race profoundly affects people’s economic, political and social experiences. Do we have poor today because of racism or do we have people who are in poverty because of socialism? I think it's socialism. You’ll see that as we continue our broadcast. Here’s the next clip.
David Platt: [quote] So we’re not talking here about blunt prejudice or individual animosity alone. And we’re not just talking about the past either. We’re looking at the reality of racism now, today. And this is so important. Because when we look back in American history, and some, maybe many people, especially white people wonder, aren’t we past this? Yes, slavery was wrong, but slavery is gone and has been for decades. But the reality is we could have said that in 1955. But we all know that racism was alive and well, right?
So likewise, we could say today, okay, but everybody uses the same water fountains now and we can all sit on the bus wherever we want, which is true. And we need to pause and praise God that those things have changed. I praise God for pastors in this room and people in our churches, white, black and otherwise, who have worked in different ways to change these realities in our country over the last 50 years. Praise God these are not realities anymore.
But just because these realities are no longer true does not mean racism is gone. So let me paint a picture of our country with admittedly broad strokes. I’m not talking about any specific city or community here. But the reality is, the facts are, some of these facts come from a helpful book called Divided by Faith, which is in the bookstore. But the facts are black Americans are much more likely to be unemployed than white Americans. The current ratio of two unemployed black people for every one unemployed white person has held, pretty constant since 1950. Income inequality between white and black people is close to 50 percent worse, wider today than it was 40 years ago.
African American babies die at a rate over twice the frequency of white babies. African American mothers are four times more likely to die in childbirth than white American mothers. Young African American males are six times more likely to be murdered than our young white American males. We’ve all heard the black/white disparities in the criminal justice system that have been highlighted over recent years. You put it all together, you look at every study there is and you will see that white Americans are far more likely than black Americans to get a quality education, to have a high paying job and to live in a more affluent neighborhood with less crime. [end quote]
Brannon Howse: Now notice David Platt, first of all, is recommending a book called Divided by Faith. You can go look it up on Amazon. The book, Divided by Faith, which he said was for sale in the bookstore there at this “Christian” conference called Together for the Gospel, shockingly many of the men that are there, like Al Mohler, Thabiti Anyabwile and many others, are known for promoting Cultural Marxism, whether they know it or not. And yet we also had one or two prominent Bible teachers also sharing the platform with these men that very weekend. And not one of them denounced the Cultural Marxist rubbish of David Platt.
What’s sad is one or two of these men have warned about clear-minded charismatics. They’re all concerned about anybody who is a clear-minded charismatic. Now I have problems with the Word of Faith, which has a false gospel and a false Christ. I’m concerned about the Word of Faith. I’m concerned about the New Apostolic Reformation. But I know many people who are, what I would call, clear-minded charismatics who believe in some of the gifts being for today, but they totally reject the false teaching of the Word of Faith and the New Apostolic Reformation.
Yet there was at least one pastor at this conference sharing the platform with David Platt who held a conference a couple years ago called Strange Fire. At this conference John MacArthur warned about not sharing the platform with charismatics–that when men do that they give them theological cover. You can go look it up. We have the transcript and the video.
Now what’s interesting is some of the men John MacArthur was sharing the platform with were, indeed, clear-minded charismatics. So why is he sharing the platform with them? That doesn’t concern me, quite frankly. But what does concern me is that many of these men are promoting Cultural Marxism. Frankly, I’m not so worried about the clear-minded charismatics. I am worried about the Cultural Marxists. So why is MacArthur giving theological cover to men like David Platt by sharing the platform with him?
But notice at this conference–this Christian conference–he says this book, Divided by Faith, is available in the bookstore–that you can go purchase it. Well, when I heard that, I had to go look up and see, well, what is this book, Divided by Faith? So I typed it into Amazon and what did I find? Divided by Faith, subtitled, Evangelical Religion and the Problem of Race in America, written by Michael O. Emerson and Christian Smith. So I then looked up who these guys were and what other books they had written and I found that in 1991 Christian Smith wrote the book The Emergence of Liberation Theology- Radical Religion and Social Movement Theory. The book praises Liberation Theology. Do you know what Liberation Theology really is? It’s the mixture of Marxism with Christianity. In fact the description of the book says, “In this book, Christian Smith explains how and why the Liberation Theology movement emerged and succeeded when and where it did.”
So David Platt is promoting a book that’s being sold at this Christian conference and recommending that people read it that was written in part by one of the coauthors who has written a book praising Liberation Theology, the mixture of Marxism with Christianity. Do you really need to know much else about the lack of discernment of David Platt? Do you really need to know much more about the discernment of the men leading this conference if they will sell ‘skubula’ like this by progressives in their bookstore and thus give this poison to the thousands of pastors and ministry leaders and men who were at this conference–over 12,000 of them?
Well, what is in this book, Divided by Faith? In this book, we find this on page 47. (Again, remember, David Platt is recommending that pastors buy this book at this conference.) And here’s what we read in Divided by Faith on page 47:
[quote] We must account for the premillennial view that had come to dominate the American evangelical worldview and played a role in limiting evangelical action on race issues. [end quote]
Wait a minute. What’d they just say? They’re declaring that if you have a premillennial worldview that has come to dominate evangelicalism, that you have a limited response or limited action on racial issues. In other words, if you believe in the pre-tribulation rapture of the church, if you’re a pre-tribulation dispensationalist you don’t really care about racial issues. In other words, it sounds like you’re a racist.
Now what’s very interesting is that this is the same kind of Cultural Marxism that came from Tony Campolo in his book in 2006 entitled, Letters to a Young Evangelical. Tony Campolo is a Neo-Marxist who easily introduced this Neo-Marxism in the early 70s–with a social contract that he and Ron Sider had worked on–to promote social justice within evangelicalism. Tony Campolo has been in favor of pretty much every communist revolution in South America. And, as you’ll see in a future program, called anti-communists ‘individuals who are working on the side of the dark forces.’
So it's not new to see men like Tony Campolo declaring that if you believe in the rapture of the church, if you believe in dispensationalism, that basically you don’t care about this world. You don’t care about justice or what is right or any kind of social action. You’re just pretty much a selfish racist person.
Yet, in reality, there are many people who were alive in this country many, many, many years ago who believed in the rapture of the church–the pre-tribulation rapture of the church–who also held to dispensationalism. And by the way, dispensationalism is simply the belief that you interpret the word of God with the same consistent rules over and over. The word ‘dispensationalism’ comes from the idea of house rules. You use these same set of rules to interpret the word of God. You take it literal where it’s meant to be literal. Where we see passages like God covers us under his wings, we realize that’s not literal. God is not a bird. He does not have wings.
So we understand where it is meant to be taken literal and where there are metaphors being used. We have house rules. We are not involved in spiritually allegorizing the Bible. We take the Bible in context, realizing what it means and interpreting it and applying it for today where it’s meant to be applied for today. We do not take the things that were for the nation of Israel, the way they dressed, the food they ate, the way they brought their sacrifice to the temple. The way they were allowed to–if it came to be–to stone someone. Yet we don’t do any of that in the New Testament church. Why? Because we understand the correct interpretation of the Bible–where it is meant to be taken literal for today for the New Testament church. There is a distinction between the nation of Israel and the Jewish people and the church–the church created in Acts 2. Ekklesia. Called out ones. There is a distinction between the nation of Israel and God’s promises to the nation of Israel and the New Testament church. And the house rules of dispensationalism we use consistently from Genesis to Revelation. That is what makes someone a dispensationalist in part. The correct hermeneutical interpretation of the Bible.
We distinguish between Israel and the church. We believe in a pre-tribulation rapture of the church. We believe in a coming millennial reign of Christ. We do not believe that we build the kingdom of God on earth through social justice and redistribution and socialist ideals. We believe Daniel 2 says God brings his kingdom. That is what makes someone a pre-mil, pre-tribulation, dispensationalist.
And so in this book, Divided by Faith–being recommended by David Platt at this conference and sold at this conference–the authors are declaring that if you are a pre-tribulation dispensationalist you don’t care about racial issues. So basically you’re a racist. Now why would they sell ‘skubula’ like this at this conference? Because they must agree with it, right?
So listen again. The authors of Divided by Faith, page 47:
[quote] We must account for the premillennial view that had come to dominate the American evangelical worldview and played a role in limiting evangelical action on race issues. According to this view, the present world is evil and will inevitably suffer moral decline until Christ comes again. Thus, to devote one’s self to social reform is futile. The implications of this view were clearly expressed by Billy Graham. [end quote]
So the book is attacking Billy Graham because Billy Graham believed in a pre-tribulation rapture, as did most of your well known Bible teachers from years gone by and today. Adrian Rogers. Charles Stanley. John Whitcomb. DL Moody. So they’re acting as though if you held this view you’re some kind of extremist. This is the predominant worldview of most of your well respected evangelical Bible teachers from the last 100 plus years.
But this book declares if you believe in the pre-tribulation rapture you don’t care about race issues; therefore, you’re pretty much a racist. Right? Wrong. Who is it that has defended the idea of one blood, the biblical answer to racism? Acts 17. Largely pre-tribulation dispensationalists. Who is it that fought for the civil rights movement? Many of them white Christians who were pre-tribulation dispensationalists. Who are many of the people that started pro-life clinics to save the life of unborn babies? Largely babies who were being killed because of Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood who was a racist, worked with a Nazi doctor, and even spoke to the women’s branch of the Ku Klux Klan. That’s Margaret Sanger. She started Planned Parenthood. She called minorities ‘weeds that need to be eradicated.’
So who is it that largely started pro-life clinics to counter the racism of Margaret Sanger that was particularly targeting the eradication of black babies? Well, these pro-life clinics were largely started by Christians–many of them who hold to a pre-tribulation worldview and eschatology. In fact, if you think about the people who have started some of the biggest pro-family organizations to deal with social issues like abortion, active euthanasia, the lack of quality education in our inner cities, who has it been? White Christian men who believed in the pre-tribulation rapture of the church and dispensationalism–men like Tim LaHaye whose wife started what? Concerned Women for America.
So this idea that people who are buying into the eschatology, defend the eschatology, the dispensational belief of a pre-tribulation rapture of the church and dispensationalism are racist and don’t care about society is a lie. But it’s being quoted and recommended by David Platt and sold at this conference.
Over on page 76 of this book, Divided by Faith, that David Platt was just recommending, we read this.
[quote] Progressives view humans as essentially good. [end quote]
Well, by the way, that’s not in the Bible. The Bible says in Jeremiah, “The heart is deceitfully wicked about all else, who can know it?” Man is not ultimately good. Man is sinful and fallen. We believe in original sin. Because of the sin of one man, Adam, sin entered into the world. There is no one good, no, not one. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Original sin. That is the infection that all men have. And the solution is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the perfect sacrifice. He lived the sinless life that was then credited or imputed to my account as though I lived His sinless life. I did it, but He lived a sinless life and His sinless life is credited or imputed to my account through faith and repentance. And the sinful life that I did live, it was taken on to Him on the cross and He paid my sin debt, which is why He cried out, ‘it is finished!’ It is finished. That’s a banking term. Debt paid in full. That’s a legal transaction. Debt paid in full. Now why did Christ have to come and live a perfect, sinless life? So he could be the perfect, sinless sacrifice to atone or make payment for my sin. Why? Because of one man, Adam, sin entered into the world. The fall. Original sin.
But what do they say in this book, Divided by Faith?
[quote] Progressives view humans as essentially good, provided they are released from social arrangements that prevent people from living happily, productively, and equally–for example, racism, inequality, and lack of educational opportunity. In this view, although individuals are pivotal, they are shaped in profound ways by social structures and institutions. [end quote]
What are they saying? Man is not evil. Man is ultimately good. And man only does bad things because he is a product of his environment. This is what the Secular Humanists teach, and many Cosmic Humanists or New Agers. Man is ultimately good. They are simply a product of their environment. Therefore, if you can set up the right environment, big government, redistribution of wealth, progressive socialist ideals, they believe then men will spiritually evolve. Society will evolve. Morals will evolve. And people will be good. Because, again, man, they believe, is ultimately good. They’re just a product of their environment. Do away with that which is evil. Racism, income inequality, which they say all is derived from Christianity and capitalism, do away with those things, set a progressive socialist utopian society and then man will evolve to become a good person and evil will disappear and you’ll create heaven on earth.
Well, again, that’s a lie. They go on to say white conservative Protestants are accountable freewill individualists, meaning white Christians believe man has a free will to choose whether to do good or evil. They say no, individuals are not responsible ultimately for what they do. They’re a product of their environment. We say yes, man has a free will to sin all day long. If man wants to jump in with both feet, he can jump in with both feet and sin all day long. But if he wants to buffet his body as the apostle Paul says, and turn from sin and count himself dead to sin, Romans 6, ‘what shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid.’
So we, through the power of the Holy Spirit, can make the individual choice to surrender our life in faithfulness and obedience and sanctification to the Holy Spirit and the Word of God making the individual choice, I am not going to jump into sin with both feet. Individual responsibility. Therefore, we believe in individual salvation. Whereas the progressives believe in collective salvation.
So they say:
[quote] White conservative Protestants are accountable freewill individualists. Unlike progressives, for them individuals exist independent of structures and institutions, have free will and are individually accountable for their own actions. This view is directly rooted in theological understanding. [end quote]
They go on to say:
[quote] Quite unlike progressives, evangelicals believe there are right and wrong choices as determined by a divine lawgiver. [end quote]
That’s right. We believe what is right and what is wrong is defined by the character and nature of God, the moral law of God. Paul said I would not have known what sin is without the law. The character and nature of God, the moral law, the law of God, the precepts of God, the Word of God, which is a reflection of His character and nature, is how we know what sin is. That which goes against the character and nature of God is sin.
So they say:
[quote] Quite unlike progressives, evangelicals believe there are right and wrong choices as determined by a divine lawgiver. Because evangelicals distrust basic human propensities (as a result of the doctrine of original sin), they view humans, if they are not rooted in proper interpersonal contexts, as tending to make wrong choices. For this reason, for evangelicals, relationalism moves to the forefront. [end quote]
Now what did they just say here? We believe in original sin. We believe that man does indeed sin because of original sin.
So what you need to understand is that this book is stating that if you hold to a pre-tribulation dispensationalist eschatology, you’re basically a racist. If you believe in individual responsibility, you’re basically a racist. If you believe in the biblical doctrine of original sin, you’re basically a racist. In fact, on page 78 they write:
[quote] Certainly we heard white evangelicals communicate these themes. According to one congregational man, race problems exist because ‘it is an issue of original sin.’ [end quote]
See, they don’t like that. Indeed, why do we have racism? Because of sin–the evil hearts of men and women–and this is why we have to bring a biblical worldview to bear.
So I ask again, why is David Platt at Together for the Gospel promoting a book called Divided by Faith, and it’s being sold at the conference, when the co-author, Christian Smith, wrote a book called The Emergence of Liberation Theology praising the mixture of Marxism with Christianity which is called Liberation Theology? This says that if you believe in a pre-tribulation dispensationalist eschatology you’re a racist. That if you believe in individual responsibility you’re a racist. If you do not believe that man is ultimately good, you’re a racist. If you believe in original sin, you’re a racist. And yet this is the Cultural Marxism being sold.
Now David Platt goes on to say many things, including that examples of racism being alive and well–well, black and unemployment. Do you know why we have unemployment, whether it’s black people or white people or whatever people group they’re from? Why do we have unemployment? Usually it's because of something going on within the economic system. It could be people who just choose not to get up and go to work, right? It could be people who say, ‘hey, I’m better off by getting a welfare check than I am working.’ Because, by the way, some folks can make more money through a government welfare check than they can by actually getting up and going to work. So what incentive is there to work if you’re going to get a check in the mail? So that’s one reason unemployment is high.
Another reason unemployment is high is because of progressive ideals. Progressive policies, not because of racism of white Christians or the church. Here is an article dated Monday, April 8, 2013 by Walter Williams, a black educator and columnist. An author. He says, minority view, why is black unemployment so high? Would you like to know why he says black unemployment is so high? He begins by talking about his life growing up and all the summer jobs he had and how he worked all summer long and on the weekend and after school as a young man. But then he says, gone are those days for many young black Americans to get an entry level job. He says this, “Such opportunities for early work experiences are all but gone for today’s teens. A major reason is the minimum wage law, which makes hiring low skilled workers a losing economic proposition. In 1950, only 50 percent of jobs were covered by the minimum wage law. That meant the minimum wage didn’t have today’s unemployment effect. Today, nearly 100 percent are covered. Meaning 100 percent of jobs. He says, today’s child labor laws prevent youngsters from working in perfectly safe environments. The minimum wage has destroyed many jobs. That’s why, for example, in contrast with the past, today’s gasoline stations are self-service and theater ushers are nonexistent.”
Then here’s an article by Thomas Sowell. Thomas Sowell, also a black columnist, conservative, author, and an economist. He writes an article at Town Hall entitled, “Minimum Wage Madness.” And here’s what he writes.
“Most Americans living below the government-set poverty line have a washer and/or a dryer as well as a computer. More than 80 percent have air conditioning. More than 80 percent also have both a landline and a cell phone. Nearly all have a television and a refrigerator. Most Americans living below the official poverty line also own a motor vehicle and have more living space than the average European. Non Europeans in poverty, the average European.”
Let me just stop right there. If David Platt is trying to list off all these economic issues that show racism, doesn’t this show that America really isn’t racist? Because largely, entrepreneurs get up every day and work, pay taxes that are then redistributed to other individuals through the entitlement welfare programs that allow them as “the poor” to live better than the middle class Europeans. Does David Platt understand this? No, because David Platt has a lot of degrees that you can purchase, but you can’t purchase common sense. David Platt I believe is a perfect example of an educated simpleton.
Well, the economist and black columnist, black American, Thomas Sowell, goes on to write:
[quote] Why then are they called “poor?” Because government bureaucrats create the official definition of poverty, and they do so in ways that provide a political rationale for the welfare state–and, not incidentally, for the bureaucrat’s own jobs. Most people in the lower income brackets are not an enduring class. Most working people in the bottom 20 percent in income at a given time do not stay there over time. More of them end up in the top 20 percent than remain behind in the bottom 20 percent. There is nothing mysterious about the fact that most people start off in entry level jobs that pay much less than they will earn after they get some work experience. But, when minimum age levels are set without regard to their initial productivity, young people are disproportionately unemployed–priced out of jobs. [end quote]
In other words, minimum wage laws have stopped business owners from being able to afford untrained, unskilled workers to give them an entry level job by which to build their skill set and their résumé to then move up the ladder economically. Now is this because of racism of the church? Is this because of the racism of white Christians? Is this because of the racism of white free market capitalists? No. This unemployment due to the minimum wage laws is because of racist democrats, because of racist socialists who want to keep people enslaved to government. They are the racists. It is the entrepreneurs that set people free.
Walter Williams goes on to say:
[quote] Unemployed young people lose not only the path they could have earned, but at least equally important, the work experience that would enable them to earn higher rates of pay later on. [end quote]
Here’s another article. This one is by Thomas Sowell dated May 18, 2015. Minimum-wage Laws: Ruinous ‘Compassion.’ What does he say?
[quote] A recent story a San Francisco newspaper says that some restaurants and grocery stores in Oakland’s Chinatown have closed after the city’s minimum wage was raised. Other small businesses there are not sure they’re going to survive because many depend on a thin profit margin and a high volume of sales. At an angry meeting between local small business owners and the city officials, the local organization that has campaigned for the higher minimum wage was absent. They were probably some place congratulating themselves on having passed a humane living wage law. The group most affected was also absent. Inexperienced and unskilled young people who need a job to get some experience even more than they need the money. [end quote]
Thomas Sowell goes on to say:
[quote] You can check this out for yourself. Go to your local library and pick up a copy of the distinguished British magazine, The Economist. Whether it is the current issue or a back issue, doesn’t matter. Spain, Greece and South America will be easy to locate in the table near the back which lists data for the various countries. Just look down the unemployment column for countries with unemployment rates around 25 percent. Spain, Greece and South Africa are always there. Whether or not there is a recession. Why? Because they have a very generous minimum wage law.
While you’re there, you can look up the unemployment rate for Switzerland, which has no minimum wage law at all. Over the years I’ve never seen the unemployment rate in Switzerland reach as high as 4 percent. Back in 2003 The Economist reported, ‘Switzerland’s unemployment neared a five year high of 3.9 percent in February.’ [end quote]
Wow, wouldn’t our country love to have an unemployment rate of 3.9 percent? We’d love that, wouldn’t we? Well, again, Thomas Sowell, a black columnist and author goes on to write:
[quote] Low income minorities are often hardest hit by the unemployment that follows in the wake of minimum wage laws. The last year when the black unemployment rate was lower than the white unemployment rate was 1930, the last year before there was a federal minimum wage law. The following year, the Davis-Bacon Act of 1931 was passed, requiring minimum wages in the construction industry. This was in response to complaints that construction companies with non-union black construction workers were able to underbid construction companies with unionized white workers (whose unions would not admit blacks). [end quote]
I want you to understand what I just read. Minimum wage laws were largely passed in 1931 to stop black workers from undermining or underbidding the white workers. And so the labor unions that would not accept the black workers were losing work. If the white worker loses work and he can’t pay his union dues, the union makes no money. So the union, having lobbyists in Washington, DC, you can bet your bottom dollar, lobbied for minimum wage laws. Which then stopped the black entrepreneurs from being able to undercut in their bidding the white companies.
Now who is largely supported by the unions? Democrats. Whether it’s abortion or the unions and minimum wage laws or the welfare state, who is it that has enslaved black Americans over and over again? Who are the real racists? Your progressive socialist Democrats–many of them, by the way, who also believe in evolution. And evolution is about as racist as you can get. In fact, Darwinian evolution is really one of the foundations for the existence of true racism.
And if you doubt me, in our next broadcast we’ll get into what my friend, black American, columnist, author, activist, Christian, Star Parker has said. She has spoken for our Worldview Weekend. She wrote a book called Uncle Sam’s Plantation. She’ll talk about how the liberals, the Democrats, simply moved black Americans off of the plantation after slavery was outlawed, and on to the plantation of Uncle Sam through welfare programs, entitlement programs, minimum wage laws, etc. But notice again what Thomas Sowell is writing.
[quote] The following year the Davis-Bacon Act of 1931 was passed, requiring minimum wages in the construction industry. This was in response to complaints that construction companies with non-union black construction workers were able to underbid construction companies with unionized white workers (whose unions would not admit blacks). [end quote]
So if David Platt wants to talk about income disparity or low incomes in the black community, maybe David Platt should stop regurgitating the lies of the Neo-Marxists and socialists and actually learn some history and what the problem is so it can be fixed instead of blaming it on white evangelical Christians and capitalists, which is the ploy of the Cultural Marxists and the Frankfurt School who said, ‘we will prove that the source of all suffering and oppression are Christians, capitalists and particularly white Christians and capitalists.’ Why? Because who could oppose their Cultural Marxist socialist ideals if they wrap it in a race campaign? Very hard to oppose because as soon as you oppose it, well, you must obviously be a racist and a bigot. You see how this works?
Well, the article by Thomas Sowell concludes:
[quote] The annual unemployment rate for black teenagers has never been less than 20 percent in the past 50 years, and has ranged as high as over 50 percent. Incidentally, the black/white gap in unemployment rates for 16-year-olds and 17-year-olds was virtually non-existent back in 1948. But the black teenager unemployment rate has been more than double that for white teenagers for every year since 1971. [end quote]
So again, what has ruined entry level jobs? The ability to learn a skill. To learn a trade. To build your résumé. For all people, but particularly black Americans according to black columnists and writers like Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams. Progressive socialist Marxist ideals like the minimum wage law.
When we come back next week I’ll play this clip again. Reset it. And then we will explain why David Platt is wrong to claim that the crime rate is an example of racism. When really the crime in most of these communities by black columnists will admit it’s black on black crime. But you see, what David Platt has done here is set up a false narrative. He’s pointing at problems. Black unemployment. Income inequality. Black baby death rates. Crime in black communities. Education. And then he says, well, the church isn’t doing anything about this. It’s the church’s problem. When did the church become the government? We’re not the government. And when has David Platt not seen Christians, such as myself and many others, talking about these issues for years? And yet what is David Platt’s solution to all these problems? His solution is more government. More progressive ideals as you’ll hear. Which is why we have the problem to start with.
So not only does David Platt not understand why we have these problems, his solution is actually the poison that caused it to start with. Why? Because David Platt has a ton of degrees, frankly, but he’s an educated fool. He is the very biblical definition of a fool. David Platt is nothing more, nothing less I believe than a mouthpiece for the Neo-Marxists who have infiltrated mainstream evangelicalism. And the fact that he can spew this ‘skubula,’ as the Apostle Paul would have labeled it, at a conference called Together for the Gospel and share the platform with well-known Bible teachers who now are giving him theological cover is a scandal of immense proportions, going right over the head of most evangelicals who will defend it because they’re not interested in consistency. They’re not interested in truth. They’re interested in their good ol’ boy club. And they’re interested in simply making money, I believe, and selling books and building their brand. Even if it means giving credibility to people like David Platt pushing this Neo-Marxist rubbish that actually does, indeed, create a divide because it is claiming that the problems in our world today are not due to sin, they’re not due to socialist failed policies. They’re due to white evangelical Christians. That is what Saul Alinksy and others wanted. Conflict. Conflict. Conflict. And to create, as Herbert Marcuse of the Frankfurt School wrote about, a ‘coalition of victims.’ And the people being oppressed, they’re being oppressed by Christians and capitalists. Therefore, now we have a reason to destroy Christianity and capitalism. Take away the religious liberty of freedoms, as Herbert Marcuse wrote about. He wrote in ’65 in his paper on tolerance, the way to deal with intolerance is to be super intolerant of those that are intolerant, i.e., Christians, and deprive them of their freedom of assembly and freedom of speech.
And I believe men like David Platt, useful idiots for the Marxists, are playing right into their hand at nothing less than a conference called Together for the Gospel that should be called Together for the Marxist Liberation Gospel.
Now folks, if you appreciate this program and all the research we do, it takes hours and hours to study and prepare. The only way we can do this, spend the time preparing, film the program, post edit the program and then redistribute the program to all of you to watch, is by one of two ways you support us–through our Worldview Weekend Foundation with a tax deductible contribution, or through our Situation Room. Situationroom.net.
We are a listener supported ministry. Without your help we can’t survive. We must hear from you. If you would like to make a tax deductible contribution you can do so at WVWFoundation.com. You also can send a check to our mailing address there on the screen. You’ll find that mailing address on our website.
The other way you can support us is by joining our Situation Room, which at this time in May 2018, is over $145,000.00 in ebooks, audio books, transcripts, Bible software, conference DVDs and more. We make all of our programs available for free. Then after a few days they do roll into our Situation Room where you can be a member and support us with your membership and have access to all of these resources. You can join for as low as $9.99 a month. And you can join at situationroom.net. You can also join at a cheaper rate when you join at the yearly rate of just $99.00 at this time. Situationroom.net. These are the two ways you can support us so we can continue to broadcast truth. Because my friends, who else do you know is going to do this kind of homework and research and bring you this kind of analysis?
Because remember, David Platt and others have openly stated in this neo-evangelical, neo-Calvinist cabal, that they’re going after 18 to 25 year olds. Well, many of you have kids and grandkids that fall into that age group. You need this information to stop them from being deceived by this Cultural Marxism masquerading as Christianity. And that’s why I’m also working on a new book, Lord willing, that will be out in late fall 2018 called Marxi-anity: Mixing Marxism with Christianity. And don’t forget, that’s exactly what David Platt was promoting as he promoted the book, Divided by Faith, written by men bemoaning Christians, bemoaning their belief in original sin, bemoaning their biblical views on eschatology and bemoaning anyone who opposes their solutions of more government–written in part by a man who wrote a book praising Liberation Theology, the mixture of Marxism with Christianity.
We’ll pick it up right here next week. Until next time, I’m Brannon Howse. Thanks for watching. Take care.
