I. THE CONDITION OF THE WORLD

Many in the world are wondering what is happening in our world today. The problem in the world today is we are seeing the reality of the TV show, The Walking Dead!  Why are we having people aborting their babies? Why are we having so much violence in our own nation? Why are we having so much untruth in so many areas? We see that God’s word tells us people are dead in their trespasses and sins.

In Romans chapter 5, we find in the 12th verse that when Adam disobeyed God and ate the fruit of the tree that God had told him not to eat thereof, he died! Not only did he die but every one of his descendants died too! Not immediately, but spiritually then, and literally in due time. The great expository preacher, Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones said in his commentary on Romans 5:12 in “Men Made New” that “sin invaded the world and death by sin.”

Of course, not everyone believes this truth revealed in The Word of God. However, that doesn’t alter the truth! Everyone IS dead in trespasses and sins apart from the Lord Jesus Christ. How does that happen one may ask? Just naturally! All are descendants of Adam and as a result, are dead according to our verse! It is impossible not to sin! All, including the Apostle Paul, sin because they are sinners.

They may be morally “good” people, but they are dead and “without hope in the world”, apart from the Lord Jesus Christ! The great news is that the Lord God tells us, in this verse, that God has provided the way for one to avoid the wrath of God.

Indeed, even in the third chapter of Genesis, God revealed His plan to redeem those who would believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and surrender their will to God’s will in true repentance and place their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ alone. We are “quickened”, in other words “made alive”, in the Lord Jesus Christ. For God sent not His only begotten son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world (John 3:17).

He is The Way, The Truth and The Life! (John 14:6) He calls everyone who will to “Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me for I am meek and lowly in heart and you shall find rest unto your souls, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30).

Do you know people who are dead in trespasses and sins? Tell them of Jesus who is mighty to save. He is able to save to the uttermost, that means completely, those who come to him in true repentance and believe in Him, or, place their trust in Him alone!

II. THE UNIVERSITALITY OF SIN AND DEATH

You see in the verses that follow (vss 2 & 3) that ALL are dead. Paul includes himself in those who “walked according to the course of this world”. Note that they are “controlled” by the “prince of the power of the air”. That’s the devil, or Satan. They are controlled by the spirit “that now works in the children of disobedience”. Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones says that’s like when the Lord Jesus Christ told the Pharisees that they were as their father the devil. It means that they cannot be obedient! To put it another way, they cannot -NOT be disobedient.

The great apostle Paul says that “we ALL had our [manner of life] in times past in the lusts of the flesh, fulfilling the desires of flesh and of the mind and we’re by nature children of wrath, even as others.” (V3).

God’s wrath is what we need saving from! This ought to put the fear of God in everyone who has not truly repented from their sin and placed their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ! However, we are told in Romans 3, that “there is no fear of God before their eyes” (Romans 3:18). What a terrible condition! What a horrible thought when God Himself has provided the way of salvation to those who will come unto Jesus.

The way is open! One doesn’t have to perish! The Lord Jesus Christ came to seek and to save those who are lost! Tell others to come to Him! Maybe you’ve never told anyone before. Send this to them or read it to them. The Lord Jesus Christ came to give his life a ransom for many. For all who would surrender their will to Him and place their trust in Him alone for their Justification, or, as many say, Salvation.

There is no sin too black. There is no one that has too many sins. The Lord Jesus Christ saves to the uttermost. Tell others to come to the Lord Jesus Christ now! Believe on Him. Abraham did, and it was accounted unto Him for righteousness. Believe His word. Place your trust in Him. Repent from your sin. It will be accounted unto you for righteousness. If you already know Him, tell at least those that you know these Holy truths. This is the problem with the world today!  Be a pipeline to others.

III. THE RICH MERCY AND LOVE OF GOD.

God is not willing that any should perish. He tells us in the third chapter of Genesis that He is preparing the way for redemption of those who will be saved. Here in chapter 2 of Ephesians in verse 4 we find that God is “rich in mercy”. No matter how much mercy you think God has- He has infinitely more! He has loved us with an everlasting love! Infinitely more than we can comprehend or think!
God sent His only begotten son to bear our sin in His own body on the cross that we may be dead unto sin and alive unto Him! The Lord Jesus Christ says in the Gospel of John in John 5:24 that “He that hears my word and believes on Him that sent me has everlasting life and shall not come into condemnation but has passed from death into life.” This is great good news! Tell all that you know this great good news!  The whole world without Christ is dead in trespasses and sins and that’s why we see the condition of the world today. We are moving toward global totalitarianism! The days are evil and perilous. Pray, and tell everyone you can think of that Jesus who is mighty to save, will save them!

IV. CONCLUSION

There are many in our nation who do not know the Lord. They have not received sound faithful teaching, and they have not heard the Holy Truth of God’s Holy Word and have not heard the glorious Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Will you commit and purpose to tell them?

“Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.” (Jude 24 and 25)
