Topic: Joel Osteen explains that he does not use a lot of Scripture in his sermons and one reason is he is trying to reach the unchurched. 2 Timothy tells us that it is Scripture that makes one wise unto salvation. If Christians and pastors want to reach the lost they must use Scripture. Topic: John Piper, in an affirming way, quotes contemplative Richard Foster in some of his sermons and suggests one might read a book by C. Peter Wagner of the New Apostolic Reformation. Reportedly, Piper also wrote in one book that Christians can fight for joy in God by reading the writings of prophets when they arise. Piper believes in modern prophets and extra-Biblical revelation? Phil Johnson of Grace to You has reported that John Piper was affirming of the heretical Toronto Blessing. Is all this proof that false teaching is becoming more and more mainstream within evangelicalism?
