The Daily Mail reports that Pentagon officials now want to send F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine to fight Putin, after Volodymyr Zelensky's army secured tanks from Germany and the U.S. 

Zelensky seeks fourth generation fighter jets which can reach speeds of more than 1,200mph - adding to nearly $30 billion in military and security assistance since Russia's invasion on February 24. 

The contentious discussion on whether to send the jets to Ukraine has been ongoing as the Biden administration, which has so far rebuffed Kyiv's requests, must approve the transfers. 

Deputy national security adviser Jonathan J. Finer claimed that while there is no set decision, the possibility is not off the table - but top brass are said to be keen.

“We have not ruled in or out any specific systems,” Finer said, according to The Telegraph.  Any such donation of F-16s would further infuriate Vladimir Putin, and likely further inflame the badly-damaged relationship between Russia and the West.

Firefighters in Sacramento, California, were forced to use 6,000 gallons of water to extinguish a Tesla Model S that “spontaneously caught fire.” First responders found the electric vehicle “engulfed in flames’ on a highway. Luckily, no one was injured in the green inferno.

CBS News reports that firefighters from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District were called to a Tesla Model S that “spontaneously caught fire while it was traveling freeway speeds on EB Hwy 50,” a highway in Rancho Cordova, California, on Saturday afternoon. According to the fire department, the vehicle’s battery compartment caught fire while it was moving at highway speeds.

Photos and video of the incident demonstrate the extent of the fire’s damage. It took two fire engines, a water tender, and a ladder truck to extinguish the fires that had completely consumed the vehicle’s front hood. Firefighters had to access the car’s underside with jacks in order to put out the battery fire, with batteries continuing to burn even after the primary fire was extinguished.

The Washington Free Beacon reports that the Biden administration sent another $1.6 million to a Chinese Communist Party-backed green energy company even after Republicans warned the administration that the investment “impacts the national security of the United States.”

Joe Biden's Energy Department on Thursday announced the seven-figure award to LanzaTech, a carbon capture company that in April 2021 inked a partnership with Sinopec Capital, the clean energy investment arm of a Chinese state-owned oil conglomerate. The Free Beacon reports that this is not the first time the Energy Department has showered LanzaTech with taxpayer cash – the company received more than $10 million in grant payments in the months after it partnered with China, the Free Beacon previously reported in December.

Those payments alarmed Senate Republicans, with Wyoming's John Barrasso urging Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm in a December letter to stop “making the same mistake of enriching China's technological efforts at the expense of taxpayers. The awarding of these grants and loans directly impacts the national security of the United States.”

Arkansas' Tom Cotton similarly implored the Biden regime to stop “handing millions of taxpayer dollars to a Chinese-backed company” and instead encourage “American energy production and energy independence.”

Barrasso described the department's decision to stand by LanzaTech as “outrageous,” given the company's “direct ties to communist China.”

Barrasso told the Free Beacon:

“This isn't about protecting the environment. The White House is using its far-left climate policies as an excuse to send taxpayer money to help countries that hate us.”

Roselle Catholic High School basketball standout Tarik Watson, one of the top high school players in the nation, collapsed on the basketball court inside the Visscher Gymnasium on Sunday, January 29.

Play was stopped with 6:16 left in the second quarter as trainers and a medic rushed to Watson’s side.

The near-capacity crowd of about 1,000 stood in stunned silence as trainers assessed Watson.

Watson lost consciousness for several minutes but he “came back pretty quick,” said his school’s assistant athletic director, Todd Huebner.

The 6-7 forward was transported to Cohen Children’s Hospital in Queens, according to Huebner. There is no word on his condition.

Huebner said Watson was alert and talking and seemed to be in good spirits.

“He had movement in all of his extremities,” Huebner said.

The game was suspended with LuHi leading 21-10.

Watson is the latest student athlete to collapse during a game. He has no pre-existing medical conditions. It is unknown if he is vaccinated, but all student athletes in New York are required to be vaccinated to participate in sports.

A teenage boy died unexpectedly during a rodeo event in North Carolina on Saturday, according to Stokes County EMS.

At around 8:24 p.m. on Saturday, EMS got a call about a cardiac arrest at a Rafter K Rodeo Company bull riding event in King, North Carolina.

Two EMTs, who were contracted by the rodeo from the King Fire Department to be on standby, performed lifesaving measures until Stokes EMS arrived at the scene.

The teen bull rider was taken to the hospital by EMS where he was later pronounced dead.

The King Fire Department has confirmed that the EMTs are contracted for off-duty work to be on standby in the arena every weekend.

Rafter K Rodeo has released the following statement:

“Everyone here at Rafter K Rodeo Company, LLC would like to give our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the bull rider. Our sport is truly a family and we are so thankful for everyone that was there to help. We are thankful for our on-site EMT’s, paramedics and law enforcement that work so hard to care for the cowboys. This is a tragic event and words cannot describe the pain felt by this loss. We ask everyone to come together and pray for his family for comfort and healing in this difficult time.”

Stokes County EMS has not released the identity of the juvenile nor given a cause of death.

An Ohio firefighter and Marine Corps veteran died suddenly last week.

Joshua Fanti, 32, died at Tripoint Medical Center in Concord Township on Sunday, January 22.

No cause of death has been released.

The Thompson Fire Department said in a Facebook post:

“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of one of our own. Firefighter Joshua Fanti passed away unexpectedly early this morning.”

Montville Fire Rescue released a statement saying, “It is with the heaviest heart we mourn the unexpected loss of Thompson and Montville firefighter Joshua Fanti. We’re truly shocked to learn of his sudden passing. Please keep his family, friends, and fire family in your thoughts and prayers.”

While Fanti’s vax status is not known, it is known that the vast majority of fire departments mandated their firefighters to get the toxic, experimental Covid gene-therapy injections. 

Courtney Fanti, Josh’s wife, shared a heartfelt tribute to her husband, writing:

“Last night, we lost an amazing man, father, brother, husband, and son. Josh was always the life of the party and could make anyone laugh. I had the pleasure of being with him for six-plus years. We had so many amazing memories together and brought a beautiful son into the world, his laugh and smile were so contagious. He was a very hard-working man, firefighter, veteran, and loved his Jeeps like no other. He always made sure everyone around him was taken care of.”

While millions of jobless Americans struggled to make ends meet during devastating government-mandated lockdowns, thousands of federal employees double-dipped from taxpayer-funded pandemic unemployment funds while mostly working from home, the Federalist reports.

Despite staying on the taxpayers’ payroll during the height of the pandemic panic, greedy bureaucrats in the Internal Revenue Service, Transportation Security Administration, Federal Emergency Management Agency, United States Postal Service, Amtrak, and the Secret Service defrauded taxpayers out of millions more dollars under the guise of Covid unemployment fund and wage assistance programs.

In the Department of Homeland Security alone, nearly 2,000 ineligible or potentially ineligible employees received lost wage assistance designated for unemployed Americans, a 2022 DHSIG report found.

Thanks to rushed and lax standards, whereby “claimants only needed to self-certify they met eligibility requirements when they filed for [pandemic unemployment assistance] benefits,” more than $8.8 million in taxpayer funds were funneled to 638 DHS employees unlawfully. FEMA’s state workforce agencies also paid out $1.2 million in “lost wages assistance” to 935 DHS workers who were “fully employed.” At least 366 of those ineligible DHS officials were actually paid overtime during the period they were approved, receiving up to hundreds of dollars per week on top of normal unemployment benefits.

The illegal grift by federal “fraudsters” earned the attention of Republican Senator Joni Ernst and her January “make ‘em squeal” award, a monthly effort led by Ernst to expose government corruption and “make Washington more competent and less wasteful.”

Ernst explained in her squeal award announcement:

“Thousands of active federal employees may have falsely claimed that they lost their jobs as a result of the pandemic, in order to be paid twice by taxpayers: Once for being employed and then again for pretending to be unemployed.”

Now, this next story definitely falls into the category of good news.

The jury in the blockbuster pro-life trial of Mark Houck, a Catholic sidewalk counselor and father of seven who was subjected to an FBI raid and charged with two felonies for pushing an abortion “escort” who attorneys say had been harassing Houck’s 12-year-old son, delivered its verdict Monday, finding Houck not guilty on both charges.

If he had been found guilty, Houck would have faced 11 years behind bars and a $350,000 fine.

In a Monday press release, Thomas More Society Executive Vice President & Head of Litigation Peter Breen said the defense team is “of course, thrilled with the outcome.”

“Mark and his family are now free of the cloud that the Biden administration threw upon them. We took on the Goliath – the full might of the United States government – and won. The jury saw through and rejected the prosecution’s discriminatory case, which was harassment from day one. The Biden Department of Justice’s intimidation against pro-life people and people of faith has been put in its place.”

American Military News reports that the Biden administration has confronted China’s government with evidence that suggests some Chinese state-owned companies may be providing assistance for Russia’s war effort in Ukraine, as it tries to ascertain if Beijing is aware of those activities.

The sources for American Military News’s story, who asked not to be identified discussing private deliberations, declined to detail the support except to say that it consists of non-lethal military and economic assistance that stops short of wholesale evasion of the sanctions against Russia that the U.S. and its allies imposed after Russian forces invaded Ukraine.

The trend is worrying enough that U.S. officials have raised the matter with their Chinese counterparts and warned about the implications of supplying material support for the war, the sources said, though they declined to provide details of those contacts. 

A spokeswoman for the National Security Council declined to comment, as did the Central Intelligence Agency. While the information isn’t clear-cut and remains the subject of debate, U.S. officials said they agree the Russia-China relationship is extremely close now and China is doing more than it once did in support of Russia.

The Eurasian Times reports that the latest decision by Germany and the U.S. to send a substantial number of their most modern battle tanks to Ukraine might be the proverbial red line that Western nations are about to cross.

Leopard tanks of German origin might reach Ukraine in a matter of days from dispatch from Germany and Poland while U.S. Abrams tanks will take a little longer to reach Ukraine.

The most pressing strategic issue facing Russia is whether to wait for supplies of Western tanks to reach Ukraine or to make a preemptory strike. 

According to the Eurasian Times, “The possibility of Air Interdiction by the Russian Air Force on supply from Germany/Poland by land route cannot be ruled out.”

The big issue here is that such a decision would require the Russian Air Force to strike well within the territory of NATO member nation Germany. Interdiction of U.S. ships carrying Abrams tanks on the high seas might also be an option.

In any event, Russia is unlikely to allow the bolstering of Ukraine’s land forces by dozens of Leopard and Abrams tanks. Russian options, therefore, are limited to either preventing the supplies en route to Ukraine or escalating the war by issuing a direct threat of the use of nukes if the U.S., Germany and Poland refuse to back off their decision to send tanks to Ukraine.

Western nations’ decision to continue to escalate the war in Ukraine by providing major weapon platforms, including the HIMARS Rocket system and now tanks will almost certainly push Russia into a corner, where it will have no option but to retaliate.

Time now for our Worldview Report commentary.

On Friday, the 168 members of the Republican National Committee re-elected Ronna Romney McDaniel as the party’s chair. This will be her fourth term as RNC Chair, the longest tenure since Edwin Morgan finished eight years at the party’s helm in 1864.

Did McDaniel deserve another term? 

Conservative writer Jeff Crouere says no.

And the fact that the RNC elected McDaniel indicates this is a party addicted to losing, a party in steep decline.

The GOP has underperformed in three straight elections, 2018, 2020, 2022, not to mention three embarrassing U.S. Senate runoff losses in Georgia. 

Crouere writes:

“In the 2022 midterm election, despite the worst presidency in our nation’s history, with an open border, a horrific economy, historic gasoline prices and inflation rates, foreign policy debacles and plunging consumer confidence ratings, the Republican Party was unable to gain control of the U.S. Senate.”

The Democrats also did well in Governor’s races, with a net gain of two, bringing their total to 24 across the country.

While the GOP did gain control of the U.S. House in the 2022 election, it has a very weak hold on power. 

Crouere writes that “With the disastrous Biden administration, expectations were high that the Republican Party would make massive gains in the congressional elections. The anemic results were quite disappointing to the grassroots of the GOP, who are the true believers in the party platform and the real workers at the precinct level. The grassroots of the party are also the people who volunteer for candidates, mobilize support for Republican Party legislation, and make small donations to the RNC and to GOP candidates.”

Crouere says the grassroots have historically been taken for granted and ignored by the party’s elite governing class. With the re-election of McDaniel as RNC chair, party leaders have once again thumbed their noses at the grassroots.

On the issue of RNC leadership, the views of the rank and file of the Republican Party were crystal clear. They were demanding change. According to a Trafalgar poll, 73.5% of the Republicans surveyed wanted new leadership for the party. Only 5.6% of the respondents preferred McDaniel to remain as party leader.

When the RNC members gathered to vote on Friday, they knew Republicans from across the country wanted a new Chair. Instead of listening to these demands, RNC leaders voted overwhelmingly for McDaniel to serve another two years. The vote was not even close, as McDaniel won 111 of the 167 votes cast.

Despite McDaniel’s claims about fighting for “election integrity,” plenty of Democrat-governed states utilize ballot harvesting, drop boxes and mail-in ballots. 

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis called for “new blood” at the RNC. He said the environment in the country at the time of the 2022 mid-term election was “tailor-made” for a large GOP victory. Since it did not happen, “and we even lost ground in the U.S. Senate,” DeSantis said it was “time for a change.”

The pleas from Republican activists and leaders such as DeSantis were ignored by RNC members. McDaniel won due to the support from 150 of the biggest donors to the Republican Party.

According to Crouere, the only thing that will get these elites’ attention is money.

He writes that, “These party elites and donors need a major wake-up call from the Republican grassroots, who need to stop donating to the RNC and only support individual candidates who favor change” and an America-first agenda.
