Gospel Coalition Alliance with DNC Strategists Launched At Social Justice MLK 50 Event
THE FOUNDER OF THE RACIAL URBAN PROGRESSIVE OUTREACH TO EVANGELICALS WAS A SPEAKER AT TGC/ERLC MLK /50 EVENT IN APRIL 2018
Rev. Thomas Littleton 11/5/2019
Most mainstream concerns over the present wave of “social gospel”/ “Social Justice ” perversions in the church today resulted from the April 4th 2018 MLK/50 conference co-sponsored by The Gospel Coalition and the Ethics and Religious Liberties Commission. At MLK/50 – the racial slurs and divisive rhetoric presently in play in the church came into the light of day and have remained a constant. It was obvious to most who were paying attention that the same old social gospel of decades ago had found its’s way into the very heart of our church leadership . Not only had the divisive narratives of endless victimhood and racial politics taken root but the ML/50 was merely a manifestation of a long game effort. Also it was clear much bigger tentacles of some creature of the political deep had gripped the leaders of TGC/ERLC. This was weaponized racism wearing a short skirt of reformed theology in a strong wind.
FROM THE TGC SITE ON MLK/50
“On April 3-4, 2018, in Memphis, TN The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission and The Gospel Coalition hosted a special event titled “MLK50: Gospel Reflections from the Mountaintop,” to reflect on the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s tragic death.”
“The 50th anniversary of King’s tragic death marked an opportunity for Christians to reflect on the state of racial unity in the church and the culture. It created the occasion to reflect on where Christians have been and look ahead to where we must go as we pursue racial unity in the midst of tremendous tension.”
“Key speakers included Charlie Dates, Matt Chandler, Jackie Hill Perry, Eric Mason, Russell Moore, Trip Lee, John Piper, Benjamin Watson, and many others.”
ONE OF THE STARK HIDDEN REALITIES OF TGC/ ERLC’s MLK/50
Justin Giboney is a leader in the & CAMPAIGN which seeks the introduce the new politics of evangelicals and to “disrupt” the 2020 election. They seek to combine “Biblical Values & Social Justice to create justice driven evangelical voters . The work already encompasses many young URBAN TGC church planters from the Southern Baptist Send Network and other planting organizations related to The Gospel Coalition.

&CAMPAIGN LEADERS PRESENCE IN UPCOMING TGC/ERLC RELATED POLITICAL EVENT
JUST GOSPEL 2020
Leaders like Russell Moore and David Platt -both Southern Baptist will be conferencing with Giboney in March in the “Just Gospel 2020 ” conference .
“The Just Gospel 2020 conference goal is to help Christians think biblically and deeply about being Christians and taking our Christian identity and perspective into our political lives. We hope to aid each other in our discipleship. We are “strangers and exiles on the earth” who “desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one” (Heb. 11:13, 16). We hope to model how Christians who differ in secondary and political matters can nevertheless do so charitably and in a way that preserves both unity and freedom of conscience. We hope to make a difference—for the Church and the country.”

Navigating Racial Tension as American Christians

“Any way you look at it, black people have been enslaved in this country longer than we’ve been free. That’s one thing we have to understand. Then you have to understand the nature of slavery. The nature of slavery wasn’t just about physical bondage; it was about psychological warfare. And that psychological warfare does not go away in a generation or two.” — Justin Giboney
Date: April 4, 2018

GILBONEY AT MLK/50 ON THE PLATFORM
Christian media picked up the story-
“Justin Giboney, a Democratic political strategist and founder of the AND Campaign, explained that he believed that the 20th century Republican Party’s “Southern Strategy” was still harming race relations.
“First perfected by former President Richard Nixon, the Southern Strategy involved appealing to white Southern Democrats, often by expressing opposition to Civil Rights goals while not being overtly racist.”
“I don’t believe that white evangelical leaders, civic leaders, and also politicians, have ever truly divested themselves from the Southern Strategy,” Giboney commented.”
“I think they still believe they need the racists’ support, funding, votes to win. And so as long as they feel they need that to win, it’s going to be hard to come together.”

THE LAWYER | THE PASTOR | THE ARTIST
“Amidst the multitude of issues impacting the Church, the arts and the political landscape, God led a Pastor, an Artist, and a Lawyer to gather a coalition of biblical Christians to engage in their context. In doing so, the AND Campaign has united with faith leaders and influencers around the country that reflect biblical values and God’s heart for social justice.”
( FROM & CAMPAIGN SOCIAL MEDIA )
“Urban Christians that are bringing new thinking, new engagement and new politics to the sociopolitical landscape.”
“Urban Christians are determined to reassert ourselves into America’s political & cultural arena. We refuse to settle for civic & community engagement that forces us to either neglect our compassion or surrender our convictions. From mass incarceration to the right to life, it’s time to engage in advocacy that better reflects the love & truth of the Gospel.”
“Join Christian thinkers, strategists and artists on Saturday, February 27th, as we map out a path to New Thinking, New Engagement & New Politics. The next movement begins here….The AND Campaign.”
OVERVIEW
“As Christians, we are called to civic and community engagement. We have a duty to impact culture in a manner that reflects the truth (&) love of Jesus Christ. This commission includes participation in the political arena, wherein actions or inaction can have a profound effect on all aspects of society. Life, freedom and the general well-being of all citizens can be significantly enhanced or diminished by political dynamics.”
“Urban Christians have a unique and powerful sociopolitical perspective that is not fully represented by either of the two predominant political ideologies. It is a Gospel-centered worldview that is committed to redemptive justice (&) values-based policy. However, we have allowed the urban political class to abandon the latter.”
“A lack of organization and a poorly maintained platform has left us in a situation where we are exploited for votes, but command little policy influence. Urban Christians must find innovative ways to be critical, yet constructive participants in the marketplace of ideas. We must rebuild our sociopolitical platform and infrastructure, while demonstrating that our faith is more important than our politics.”
“We do not have the luxury of either focusing on social justice or values-based issues; both affect the foundation of our communities and are inseparably tied together. A new generation of urban Christians must address today’s dilemmas with courage, kindness and an unshakeable faith. We must speak truth with compassion (&) conviction. We must echo the good news in prayer and public witness for the common good.”
WHAT IS REDEMPTIVE JUSTICE?
“Redemptive Justice is justice which has its ends in reconciliation, peace, and flourishing for all parties. The “redemption” is not the spiritual redemption which only Christ could achieve on the Cross, but it does take Christ’s sacrifice as its model of self-giving love of neighbor. This understanding of justice differs from the view which says that justice is the overthrowing of all powers or the leveling of all positions. Rather, it acknowledges that power can be used for good or evil. Just as the Roman authorities used their powers to crucify Christ, but Christ used His power to heal, teach, and lead. Redemptive Justice challenges corrupt use of power and calls all people to use the power God has given them stewardship over for good.”
WHAT ARE CLASSIC VALUES?
“Classic Values are timeless moral codes and beliefs transferred through religious teaching, family, culture and community that have proven to be irreplaceable. ”

FIVE POINT PLATFORM OF & CAMPAIGN
& CAMPAIGN CALL TO ACTION
“Be prayerful and vigilant about the issues affecting our nation and your neighbors. When it’s time, answer the call to act together with the AND Campaign coalition. This could be a march or a vote, but it should be informed, strategic, and coordinated. Until then, consider how you can respond to challenges around you with compassion and conviction each day, starting now. When Christians speak together through the AND Campaign, it should be a megaphone for faithfulness already in action, not a surprise about what Christians believe.”
