Good evening and welcome to the Worldview Report.

The Times of Israel reports that the Israel Defense Forces struck a building in Beirut, Lebanon, late Tuesday, targeting a senior Hezbollah commander that Israel said was responsible for Saturday’s deadly rocket attack that killed 12 Israeli children.

A loud blast was heard and a plume of smoke could be seen rising above the southern Beirut suburbs — a stronghold of the Iran-backed Hezbollah terror group. Multiple sources confirmed that Hezbollah’s second most senior leader was taken out.

The Israeli military took credit for the strike, saying the commander in question was also responsible for other deadly attacks on Israel. Shortly after the strike, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant tweeted in English: “Hezbollah crossed the red line.”

The targeted commander was reported by multiple media outlets to be Fuad Shukr, a senior adviser to Hezbollah’s supreme leader, Hassan Nasrallah.

Shukr was identified several years ago as commander of Hezbollah’s precision-missile project. He is also wanted for his role in the 1983 bombing of a U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut, with Washington place a $5 million bounty placed on his head.

According to the U.S. State Department’s Rewards for Justice program, Shukr sits on the Jihad Council, Hezbollah’s top military body.

Iran would much prefer Kamala Harris as president than they would Donald Trump, according to the U.S. intelligence community.

According to a report from CNN, Iran is using covert social media and related influence operations in an effort to undercut the Trump candidacy, a U.S. intelligence official said Monday in an updated assessment of threats to the November election.

CNN reports the U.S. intelligence community has “observed Tehran working to influence the presidential election, probably because Iranian leaders want to avoid an outcome they perceive would increase tensions with the United States,” the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) said in a statement.

Iran’s preference for a U.S. presidential candidate has not changed since 2020, the ODNI official said. In the 2020 election campaign, Iran “carried out a multi-pronged covert influence campaign intended to undercut former President Trump’s reelection prospects,” according to the intelligence report.

U.S. authorities obtained intelligence from a human source in recent weeks on a plot by Iran to try to assassinate Trump. 

This report says Iran doesn’t want Trump because they don’t want an increase in tensions with the U.S. That’s bogus. They know Trump is more pro-Israel than Harris. That’s the real reason the prefer Harris. Period.

Trump took out IRGC commander Soleimani the last time he was president and they’ve been trying to kill him ever since.

Yahoo News reports that a third young girl has died following a stabbing spree at a children's Taylor Swift-themed event in the United Kingdom, police said Tuesday, as the pop star reacted on social media saying she was “in shock.”

Officers responded just before noon on Monday to reports of a stabbing at a property in Southport, a seaside town about 20 miles north of Liverpool, according to Merseyside police.

Two girls, 6-year-old Bebe King and 7-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe, were killed, and nine other children were injured, police said.

A third girl, 9-year-old Alice Dasilva Aguiar, died on Tuesday morning in the hospital, police said.

Alice was one of six wounded children who had been in critical condition, along with two adults, who were also stabbed, police said.

The other five children and two adults remained in critical condition on Tuesday, police said.

Merseyside Police Chief Constable Serena Kennedy said on Monday:

“We believe that the adults who were injured were bravely trying to protect the children who were being attacked.”

The motive remains unclear, Kennedy said.

Merseyside police said the children were attending a Taylor Swift-themed event at a dance school. A flyer for the two-hour event called it a “Taylor Swift Yoga and Dance Workshop.” The event was reportedly for children between the ages of 6 and 11.

A 17-year-old boy from a coastal village in Lancashire was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, police said. The suspect, whose name was not released, was born in Cardiff, Wales, police said.

Kennedy said the “full circumstances” were still being investigated, adding that the attack wasn't being investigated as terror-related. 

But the fact that no name has been released makes this suspicious. On the surface, it bears the hallmarks of a jihad attack, but we reserve judgment at this time.

The Western Journal reports that Arizona Democrat Senator Mark Kelly faced increased scrutiny following news that he may become Democrat Kamala Harris’s vice presidential running mate on the 2024 presidential ticket.

Kelly found himself on the top of a shortlist of Harris’s potential running mates, above names such as Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, The Hill reported.

The increased scrutiny has raised questions about Kelly’s dealings with China.

As reported by Fox News, Kelly co-founded World View, a company that originally aimed to provide customers with space tourism using balloons.

One of the company’s earliest founders was Tencent, notoriously one of the largest companies in communist China.

Perhaps most famously, the company runs the Chinese social media app WeChat, which serves as a “powerful surveillance tool for the Chinese government” that collects users’ personal information, search history, messages and other online activity.

Over the years, what once started as a mere tourism company expanded its offerings.

World View balloons now provide clients with surveillance and “remote sensing services.”

Those clients have included companies dealing in lucrative industries like oil and gas, utilities, mining, shipping and insurance.

As World View’s technology and business plan advanced, however, it began to grow a relationship with China.

Kelly held a meeting with the head of Tencent USA David Wallerstein in 2014. According to reports, Kelly introduced Wallerstein to World View’s “space tourism technology.”

The Arizona senator later downplayed the meeting as a short conversation.

When Kelly chose to run for senate, he gave up all company control. However, the senator remains invested in World View through a blind trust.

Notably, China famously sent surveillance balloons over the U.S. in 2023, generating much controversy.

The Department of Defense later revealed the same sort of Chinese surveillance balloons were sent to many other countries as well.

What began as a routine political rally on July 13th in Butler, Pennsylvania, ended in tragedy as an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump left one dead and several injured. 

The incident has raised serious questions about security protocols and response times by the U.S. Secret Service. 

New eyewitness accounts and video footage reveals law enforcement was aware of a potential threat well before shots were fired. 

It shows Trump was not taken off stage despite police surrounding would-be assassination Thomas Crooks several moments before he started shooting. At least two officers even drew their service weapons, but made no attempt to take out the shooter or communicate the seriousness of the situation to those authorities with access to Trump as he spoke.

Crooks was killed in the exchange of gunfire, bringing an end to the immediate danger but leaving many questions unanswered.

Breitbart reports that Venezuela’s socialist Maduro regime broke ties with seven Latin American countries after their governments questioned the results of Sunday’s sham presidential election and dictator Nicolás Maduro’s “victory.”

The decision forces the immediate withdrawal of the diplomatic representatives from Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Peru, Panama, the Dominican Republic, and Uruguay from Venezuelan territory.

Venezuelan electoral authorities — controlled in their entirety by the ruling socialist regime — proclaimed Maduro the winner of Sunday’s sham election, claiming he had obtained 51.2 percent of the votes. 

The Venezuelan opposition has contested the results and claimed it has evidence that their candidate, Edmundo González, obtained an overwhelming victory against the dictator. 

Maduro also handpicked the candidates on the ballot and ensured his own face appeared on it 13 times. Opposition members have also complained of violence against their campaign staff and the unlawful arrests of several dissidents, ensuring the election was far from free and fair.

Violence broke out in the streets of Venezuela’s major cities after the fraudulent results were announced. Maduro’s army fired on civilians, killing at least seven as of Tuesday.

The New York Post reports that members of the violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua have been given the “green light” to attack and open fire on cops in Denver, a federal memo obtained by The Post reveals.

The gang is already tied to hundreds of crimes, including the shootings of two NYPD cops who were trying to arrest one of its members in June.

The memo from Homeland Security’s investigations office in Chicago stated:

“Credible human sources from Colorado provided information on TdA [Tren de Aragua] giving a ‘green light’ to fire on or attack law enforcement. As you may know, we have a TdA presence here in Chicago, so please be vigilant as you encounter TdA members or affiliates during your investigative and operational activities.”

The memo added that “Credible human sources from Colorado provided” the intelligence via the Albuquerque Police Department.

The Daily Mail reports that Microsoft has been hit by another major outage less than two week since its systems were brought down by a bug-riddled update that sparked chaos for millions.

The disruption Tuesday was impacting emails, Xbox Live and 365 functions, mostly in Canada and Europe. All these systems were also knocked offline on July 19. 

Reports about Tuesday's problems surfaced around 9:15 a.m. ET.

Microsoft's service status website shows an alert for “network infrastructure,” which is critical for connectivity and communication between users, apps, devices and the internet.

The previous outage was triggered by CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity software company, but the current issue has not yet been linked to the firm.

Time now for our Worldview Report commentary.

The U.S. military is no longer prepared to fight a major war, according to a new study conducted by a congressional panel.

Though the threats the U.S. is facing are “the most serious and most challenging” it has seen in almost a century, the U.S. defense base is not equipped to meet the moment, according to a report from the Commission on the National Defense Strategy published on Monday. Among the biggest problems outlined in the report are a troubled Pentagon and a failure by the federal government to properly address threats emanating from adversaries like China and Russia.

The report reads:

“The United States last fought a global conflict during World War II, which ended nearly 80 years ago. The nation was last prepared for such a fight during the Cold War, which ended 35 years ago. It is not prepared today. The United States is still failing to act with the urgency required, across administrations and without regard to governing party.”

The congressionally established and bipartisan commission, made up of high-level defense and national security experts, is tasked with assessing the U.S. defense strategies and providing recommendations to Congress and the Pentagon. The most current report from the commission was created in part by the Rand Corporation.

Both China and Russia are bolstering their military capacity while working closer with one another, creating a looming threat from two of the world’s largest superpowers, the report reads. This relationship has also welcomed other American adversaries, such as Iran and North Korea.

But China remains the key player in the multi-nation axis, according to the report.

“The Commission finds that, in many ways, China is outpacing the United States and has largely negated the U.S. military advantage in the Western Pacific through two decades of focused military investment.”

The new axis “creates a real risk, if not likelihood, that conflict anywhere could become a multi-theater or global war,” according to the report.

The Pentagon is burdened with bureaucratic and slow-moving processes, relies on “decades-old military hardware” and has given way to a “culture of risk avoidance,” the report claims.

The U.S. defense base is unable to meet the needs of American allies in terms of military and technology equipment, according to the report, which assumes it is the United States’ responsibility to arm, train and equip its allies while serving as the policeman of the world. No surprise there since the Rand Corporation is a stalwart servant of the military-industrial complex and staunch advocate of forever wars.

This report should be taken with a large grain of salt because its underlying premise is not the defense of the U.S. homeland but rather the defense of an American empire which is crumbling under the weight of a $35 trillion national debt and reckless bullying of powerful nations like Russia.

The “mounting security threats” warned of by Rand Corp. would not exist if the U.S. would mind its own business and stop meddling in volatile parts of the world like Ukraine, which is in Russia’s immediate sphere of influence. Would the U.S. tolerate Russia arming, training and bringing into a military alliance a regime in Mexico, preparing that regime for war with America? Of course not. That would violate every rule of international goodwill. The U.S. has no business stirring up trouble on Russia’s border and should show more concern about its own border.
