Ask Dr. John: June 20, 2016 (Program #6)

Original Air Date: NOVEMBER 21, 2012

Brannon’s guest is Dr. John Whitcomb for “Ask Dr. John”. Question: There are several scriptures that allude to Satan as the god of this world and he is in control of this world: Luke 4:5-7; 2 Cor. 4:4; 1 John 5:19. Please explain how these fit with the sovereignty of God. Question: You said that nowhere in Scripture does it talk about binding Satan. How would you interpret Matthew 16:19? Question: You have also said that there are no longer apostles or prophets. How would you interpret 1 Corinthians 12:28. Question: I am a missionary who has seen healings, multiplication of food and miracles. How would you interpret that? Question: I have a sister-in-law who keeps telling me that if we have the Holy Spirit we will be able to have the same power Jesus sent his disciples out with. I don't know how to explain the difference between that power given then, and the Holy Spirit we have with us today. Question: I have family members who are Christians and even listen to discernment ministries such as Worldview Weekend. However, they are preparing to buy rural property in preparation for what they see as a total collapse of America within the next few years. My question is, is it scriptural for Christians to have a survivalist mentality as the times become more clear that economic calamity and religious persecutions are going to be raining down on us in the near future? Should we be separating ourselves and fleeing big cities for the safety of the mountains or less populated areas of the country to protect ourselves and our families? Question: What is your opinion on Christians who smoke cigars or drink alcohol? In the last 10 years it seems that most of my Christian friends have changed their stance on this and choose to drink and/or smoke cigars. Question: We are supposed to rest on the Sabbath and keep it holy. I am a police officer and my wife is a trauma nurse. Working Sunday is a must for us. Are we committing a sin against God?
