A key region of this world, as it relates to the prophetic scenario for the end times found in the Bible, is what we know today as the European Union. There is another group of nations that are united in their cooperation in the economics of their region, which is called the  Mediterranean Union, and these member states want to join the EU to form one union. The geographical area on these two unions combined would be the same  geographical area of the "Old Roman Empire". This sets the stage for the revival of the Roman Empire which is exactly what Bible Prophecy calls for in Daniel 2, the "ten toes" and Daniel 7, "the ten horns".
