John Loeffler: March 5, 2018
What can we learn from tragedies like the Florida shooting? The media will always play the same old gun control script, for one. In this week's boralogue, John looks at the arguments made by gun control advocates and points out their logical fallacies. Doing the same failing thing each time won't work. We need to change the moral foundation of society, not do away with guns.
In the wake of the FISA scandal as well as the missed red flags in Florida, what is happening to our intelligence community? Clare Lopez (www.centerforsecuritypolicy.org), Vice President for Research at the Center for Security Policy – and a former CIA agent – discusses the lack of proper training within intelligence agencies and the willful blindness due to a PC worldview.
Can an American town enact an ordinance that stifles religious freedom? Mike LeMay (www.standupforthetruth.com), General Manager of Q90 FM radio near Green Bay, recounts how the city of De Pere, Wisconsin has done just that, potentially requiring churches to engage in practices against their religious beliefs. He and others are filing a lawsuit to stop it.
We welcome Paul Van Noy (www.candlelight.org), Pastor at Candlelight Fellowship in northern Idaho, who recounts his trip to Thailand to visit Pastor X, touring the immigration detention centers, and seeing firsthand how donation moneys are being spent.
After analyzing comments from economist Lawrence Kotlikoff, who discusses the reality of social spending debt and offers a possible solution to the problem, John chats with Dr. Myles Schneider (www.mylesofhealth.com), a foot and ankle doctor in Virginia, about alternatives to Obamacare popping up in some states and healthy solutions to lower costs.
John’s quote of the week:
"Foolish people double down on bad arguments and they implement double the number of bad ideas in law, which of course do nothing to make future situations safer and oftentimes make them worse while tangling other people up in the law of unintended consequences. This is called putting lipstick on a pig."
In this week's Section 6, John examines geopolitical stories from around the world.
