Has Russia & Islamists Set Up Club-K Cargo Containers in America That Hide Cruise Missiles Armed With Nuclear Warheads?

Tonight on WVW Broadcast Network News, Clare Lopez, former CIA analyst now with the Center for Security Policy, joins us to discuss the Club-K cargo terminals, cars that are coming into – well, perhaps the United States of America.  They’re manufactured in Russia, and they contain the ability to launch four cruise missiles.  You’re also going to find out about Saddam Hussein’s former head of his nuclear program that has been given a 35-year lease to Port Canaveral in Florida, and his connection to the exporter of the Club-K cargo missile-launching system.  A lot to cover and Clare Lopez is the expert to bring us analysis.  WVW Broadcast Network News begins right now.

Brannon Howse:  Clare, what was it you did with the CIA?

Clare Lopez:  I was an operations officer focused on the Soviet Union and Russia.

Brannon Howse:  Who is Dr. Jafar, Clare?

Clare Lopez:  Well, Gulftainer is a jointly-owned company, just as you just said there, Brannon.  Jointly owned by the brother – the family name – the Iraqi family name is Jafar, to be sure – the brother of Saddam Hussein’s nuclear mastermind and co-owned by the Emir of Sharjah that is one of the United Arab Emirates.

Brannon Howse:  Well, and is it true he used to be Saddam Hussein’s top-secret analyst or nuclear expert?

Clare Lopez:  Yes, he was.  And as a matter of fact, at the time of Operation Iraqi Freedom, back in 2003, that is the brother – Dr.  Jafar – of the nuclear mastermind for Saddam Hussein was on the most wanted list.  And indeed, he was actually apprehended and questioned and eventually released.

Brannon Howse:  And so now we have the Jafar family having access to Port Canaveral Cargo Terminal in Florida.  And the reason this is partly troubling is not only because was he the head of Saddam Hussein’s nuclear program, he helped to develop this beach ball miniaturized nuclear weapon, but he also is connected to the 100 percent state-owned Russian exporter of the Club-K missile system that launches four cruise missiles.

It looks just like a regular cargo terminal, folks, that you see on the back of a semi, or a train, or on a cargo ship, but you go online and you watch on YouTube, you’ll see actual footage, as well as computer-generated, but you can see the actual footage of it being displayed at a fair, where the top of it opens up and up pops four launching silos, if you will, for four cruise missiles.

Now, the problem is, these are being manufactured and distributed all over the world, and this man, who now has been given a 35-year lease to Port Canaveral, who is the head of Saddam Hussein’s nuclear program, is now part owner of this Gulftainer that’s gotten this 35-year lease in Port Canaveral, Florida.  He also has a relationship with the exporter of the Club-K missile launching system.  Clare, tell us more about this, because this the kind of thing that you would think would be in a movie by Tom Clancy, but it’s real life.

Clare Lopez:  It’s real life; it’s really dangerous.  It is a definite immediate and critical threat to US national security right now.  The problem with the way that this 35-year lease was granted is that there is a United States government interagency review board called CFIUS, that’s an acronym.  It stands for Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, C-F-I-U-S.

So, CFIUS is an interagency review board that is headed by the Department of the Treasury, but includes others like Department of Commerce, Department of Transportation, supposed to have or used to include the intelligence community until Director of National Intelligence, General Clapper, removed the intelligence community from that review function under the Obama Administration, for reasons unknown.  But so a multiagency review board that should have reviewed any such acquisition purchase or lease of facilities like Port Canaveral’s container facility that could have national security implications, and yet just like Uranium One – and oh, by the way, during this site, the same time frame as the Uranium One deal, this deal likewise, at Port Canaveral, went through – went by, went through CFIUS – one has to wonder how many other deals like this are there out there?

Well, I have to thank you, Brannon, for bringing this to public attention and featuring this story on your program.  I couldn’t agree with you more that the Gulftainer deal and Port Canaveral which is, by the way, along Florida’s Atlantic Coast, just up the coast from the Kennedy Space Center, and along the same coast with many of our naval – critical naval and military bases and facilities, in addition to the fact, as you alluded to in the beginning there, Brannon, which is that once these containers are launched into, let’s say, the transportation system network of the world, they can go on ships; they can go on railcars, and they can go on the back of semitrailers, which means that if such a container were to be able to come into Port Canaveral – and we don’t know that any has yet; we don’t know that – we’re concerned about it, but we don’t know that any has – and yes, there are US officials posted overseas who are supposed to inspect cargo containers – shipping containers that are destined for the United States.  But as good as they may be doing their jobs, there are millions of these containers, on any given day, circulating around the world.

But so, once, if one were to gain access to our Port Canaveral container facilities, from there it could very easily be moved onto a semitrailer, a truck, or a railcar of the kind that you see every single day.  And from there all over the United States, connections, and there’s no way to track ’em.

Brannon Howse:  Our mutual friend, Phil Haney, was on our broadcast a few weeks ago, and we were talking about that issue of the Club-K Cargo Terminals and them coming into the US and citing your report.  And he said, “Well, let me add another piece to the puzzle, Brannon.”  He said, “CITGO is a Venezuelan-owned petroleum company.  They have thousands of gas stations here in the US.  Most of those are independently owned, so that’s not a problem.”  He said, “But the problem is the Venezuelan government owns 3 oil refineries in the US and 48 oil terminals.”

And we know Venezuela has gone through a massive economic crisis.  They have had Hugo Chávez, a Socialist Neo-Marxist.  They still got a guy now who’s in charge who’s a Neo-Marxist Socialist.  Well, now, they own these – this CITGO Petroleum Co.  They got into financial trouble as a nation, and they then needed some cash, and they gave a percentage – almost 50 percent – of their company to Russia.  Russia now owns, folks, roughly about 50 percent of CITGO.  But go and look up where these three oil refineries are: Louisiana, Texas, northern Illinois.  Then look up where the 48 oil terminals all.  They’re all up and down the Eastern seaboard.

Clare, this is very troubling because now we have cause for Russia to bring in cargo containers and distribute them around the US under the company they own about 50 percent of – CITGO.  What do you think of what I just laid out?

Clare Lopez:  I think that is another very compellingly threatening scenario.  Absolutely.  What we’re seeing is the collaboration among US adversaries – Venezuela for sure, Russia – and as you pointed out, both Iran and Hezbollah, as well as Cuba, all have a strong and extensive presence in Venezuela right now.  They have for a long time.  And the president, Nicolás Maduro, who succeeded Hugo Chávez, is cut from the very same mold – Marxist, Leninist, Socialist – driving his country into the ground, to be sure, but in the meantime, posing a very significant and immediate threat to the United States, certainly through these CITGO gas stations.

Brannon Howse:  One reason maybe this whole thing went through was not only was the advisory board with the Committee on Foreign Investments in the United States shut down by James.  R.  Clapper, according to this report and according to a tweet by our friend James Rickards – again, it’s all detailed in this 91-page report you can get at securefreedom.org – but there was also a guy on this committee named Aimen Nabi Mir, if I’m saying it correctly, the son of a Pakistani immigrant from Kashmir, with family connections to the Pakistani Intelligence Service and also the US Muslim Brotherhood for which he served twice as president of the Islamic Society of North America – that’s a front group for Muslim Brotherhood – he served twice as president for the Islamic Society of North America’s youth wing.

Folks, we all know what Muslim Brotherhood is all about: _____ _____ co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial, John Guandolo, Chris Gaubatz, all these guys know about that, talk about that.  And so, now we have a guy connected to Muslim Brotherhood who gets put on this committee, and he was the CFIUS Chair from 2009 to 2017.  So, here he has these connections, and yet he’s a part of this government advisory board.  That’s a little troubling, Clare.  Could that be part of the reason we see this Gulftainer deal go through?

Clare Lopez:  And so, when we’re talking about this particular individual, Aimen Nabi Mir, he was the staff chairperson for CFIUS between those years 2009 until 2014, a five-year period.  What’s troubling, just as you said, Brannon, is his background, which combines not only a direct and personal link to the Muslim Brotherhood by way of his service, his presidency of the Islamic Society of North America, a large Muslim Brotherhood front group, the youth wing of Islam – it’s called MYNA – Muslim Youth of North America – M-Y-N-A – two-time president for that in his younger years.  Aimen Nabi Mir, the staff chairperson, again, for five years at CFIUS, during the period when both Uranium One and the Gulftainer deal at Port Canaveral went through CFIUS.  And that individual not only had direct connections – leadership connections to the Muslim Brotherhood but, through his father, direct connections involving the Pakistani Intelligence Service.

Brannon Howse:  Well, let’s add another layer to it.  Dr.  Jafar was mentored, going back many, many years, by a Russian general, a spy master known as the “Bear in the Desert” who was also involved, according to your 91-page report – available for free at securefreedom.org – as being the man who put together the Islamic block and created the war on terror that is consuming a lot of our money, our national treasure, and our time, while Russia, keeping us distracted, is rebuilding their military to incredible levels.  Would you comment on all this, please?

Clare Lopez:  Sure, the Russian that you’re referring to is Evgenii Primakov.  Evgenii Primakov served for a short time, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, as the head of the KGB.  Later on, he became foreign minister for Russia.  And it was in that capacity that he put together this alliance between or among Russia and many Middle Eastern states that provided not just technology and knowhow and scientists to WMD programs – biological, chemical, nuclear and ballistic missile as well – but also was the prime moving force for Russia behind its backing of Middle East Islamic terror organizations intended to give problems to both the United States in the Middle East, our presence and influence there, and, of course, Israel.
