MATTHEW TEN THIRTY FOUR
Chris discusses Matthew 10:34 in light of current events. A new story about Representative Stephanie Borowicz who gave a prayer of invocation at the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, in which she went out of her way to proclaim the name of Jesus Christ again and again. At one point, she declared that “At the name of Jesus every knee shall bow,” which has caused Democrats and at least one Muslim lawmaker to take offense. Movita Johnson-Harrell (the first Muslim woman elected to the General Assembly) said the prayer was “highly offensive to me, my guests, and other members of the House.” Critics of the prayer argue that it was somehow contrary to the principles of Christianity as if a true “Christian” prayer would not make anyone upset. But is that really what Jesus taught?
