God’s Work Among the Gentiles, Part 1: Anyone who studies language knows that to get the full meaning of a written passage, it must be examined in the context of the cultures of the writer and of the intended audience. But what happens when we forget all about context and study scripture only through the lens of our own biases? For the first four programs in this series, we’ve been talking about God’s work among the Jews, looking at the first 12 verses of Ephesians Chapter One. And we saw great evidence that those words are directed at the Jewish people. Today, we switch gears to examine what God says to non-Jewish believers in verses 13 to 23 – as we begin a new message from Ephesians, titled “God’s Work Among the Gentiles – Part 1.”
